I can't say that's not true for you, but that's not true for most people I know to join the military. Some people like me just didn't have any structure from a parenting perspective. My parents never stayed on top of me when I had bad grades. They pretty much just let me be.
They never even encouraged me to go to college. So, when senior year rolled around and I had a barely passing GPA I didn't know what I was going to do but I knew I couldn't stay at home with my mother because I hate her and I couldn't stay with my father because he was a piece of shit
However, I couldn't go to college because my grades were shit
I scored a 73 on the ASVAB and I left more than half of the questions blank because I didn't get to them in time because I read slow. That's qualified me for almost every job in the military, unfortunately I let them pick my job and they gave me a job that didn't have outside relevance
When I talk to young people since I've gotten out oh, I told them to make sure that the job they pick in the military has outside relevance
Back in 99 a buddy of mine got out of the Navy without a degree and some job paid him $100,000/yr back in 99 just off of the training in class has he been to when he was in the military
If you pick the right job, you can make it work for you
After High School, if your options are minimum wage hell, it's better for you to join the military
