You must've been on the east side of San Jose. That's where most of the tech spots are downtown. The south side is a little better.
Strange is accurate. That uppityness comes from the south side where most the white people live and the ghettoness comes from the east side where most the Mexican Asian and everyone else lives. Most didn't want east side incorporated into the city of San Jose back in the day when it was all farming and Mexicans. Things got better but then they got worse too. San Jo was billed as one of the safest cities but at the same time a lot fuckery goes on there and it's only gotten worse since I left.

I think they got that title because of the low rate of violent crime but thievery is common, home invasions are common, scam artist are common and a bunch of other dumb shit.
