CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Newly released surveillance video captured harrowing moments inside a North Carolina bus.

There was a shootout between a driver and a passenger in Charlotte, with other passengers caught in the crossfire.

Transit officials said last week, 22-year-old Omarri Tobias, began arguing with driver David Fullard after asking to get off between stops.

"I dare you. Touch me," Tobias could be heard saying.

Tobias then pulled out a gun, appearing to point it at Fullard. Fullard then pulled out his own gun, and the shootout began.

Bullets shattered the Plexiglas of the driver's cab. Two other passengers ducked for cover.

The driver was wounded in the arm. Tobias was shot in the abdomen.

Fullard continued to shoot at Tobias after he crawled away and ran off the bus. Both are recovering from their injuries

That driver is now off the job.

"We don't want anyone possessing weapons on our vehicles," said Interim Charlotte Area Transit System CEO Brent Cagle.

The transit system said Fullard didn't properly deescalate the situation and was not allowed to bring a gun to work.

The driver's attorney, Ken Harris, said his client feared for his safety.

"I hear it from a lot of my clients. What they want to do is do their job, but they also want to get home," Harris said.

The only bad thing though
The driver was still shooting at dude
Even when dude was crawling/running away
In a self defense case
You're usually not supposed to shoot at someone when they are fleeing
When you're shooting, you panic with continuing pulling the trigger having a lot of adrenaline rush that you aren't thinking straight but to try survive until the threat is over. So, yeah, I can understand why he kept shooting.

This is America
Don't catch you slippin' now
Don't catch you slippin' now

I would have bet money that this happened in Florida or Texas ... but nope

Here in Philly there's been a lot of deaths on public transportation. Drivers should be allowed to legally carry on their job.

i can understand why you would want them to, but it would turn into a disaster. imagine the bus number 70 that plies the fern rock to torresdale route on a monday at 3pm packed with kids from northeast high school and it gets rowdy on the bus and guns are drawn, do you know the number of kids who would die? the relatives of the dead wouldn't sue whoever started the shooting regardless. they would sue SEPTA. it's the reason why most employers tell their employees not to bring guns to work. Walgreens/CVS/Riteaid all tell their employees not to bring guns to work...but I do. I just don't let anyone know i have it on me. This driver will not only get fired but could possibly face charges if it turns out he doesn't have a permit to carry.

There's already been young kids dead already and the number will continue to rise since there isn't enough cops to patrol those trains and buses to protect people going home at every stop. These dumb ass cops are now looking to arrest or ban a person wearing sheisty mask because they can't find the criminals with their face covered even when they got cameras everywhere. The drivers want to do their job and go home safely. Also, these kids carry guns illegally as well. So, it's a lose-lose situation of a drive can't defend themselves from someone that's trying to kill them because of an argument. Also, I've seen people get into an argument over fare which can turn deadly for the driver. Septa isn't safe anymore like it used to be and I don't even want to ride sepat anymore. So, having a car is better even though septa can get you places a car can't because its not worth the risk when too much shit be happening with septa and people are more bold with their crimes since they can wear a mask because of covid! One last thing, I would rather a driver to be in court compared to being in the grave.

Damn I didn't know North Carolina was wild like that. I use to live in NC for a short while around 10-15 yrs ago. I always felt safe and the threat of being in the cross hair of a shoot out never crossed my mind. But this was in the Raleigh/Durham area. Back then I always thought Charlotte was a nice city to raise a family without worrying about gun violence.

Yes anything can happen anywhere but has a lot changed since 10-15 yrs ago? I always liked the charm of the city and being from up North, real and very genuine southern hospitality was a new experience for me. Folks who I had just met and knew I was by myself would take me to places, bring me food and do physical wellness checks on me. That was the North Carolina I remembered.

WTF, when did North Carolina become Texas or Florida?

Sign of the times bruh. Younger people always got the strap and don't respect the power they really have in their holsters. Too many think it's the accessory to have for the "I'm tough" costume. The lil nigga in the clip brought the tool out on some look what I got so you need to watch how you speaking to me shit. Nigga that's exactly how dudes lose their life!!! Fuck wrong with you??? You don't pull unless you're ready to kill. That's all and that's it. Not to show off, not to flex, or scare someone. But that's how they are nowadays. Niggas pull the gun out at a stop light cause they got cutoff type shit. :smh:

Back when I was a teen, I delivered pizzas with a pistol. Even still, I passed on deliveries to certain areas. I'd find any way to pass it to the other workers.

Sometimes, it's fuck asking permission.

Moment he pulled his gun the driver should have stopped, let him off the bus and called the police at the next stop.

He already had his face on camera. Already knew his location. If Tobias was dumb enough to link his transit card to his address the cops could have easily picked him up.

Drivers are only authorized to stop at listed stops. It could be a setup......

It's deemed an undesignated stop; it may put their and passenger safety at risk and put their job in jeopardy.....

Most unions would probably fight for him and say a passenger with a gun is an emergency/ extenuating circumstance,.....

But as was said earlier, a mfkr pull a gun out and you know you've got one, it's time to stand your ground and fight for your life.....

What good is protecting your job if you're dead?

Damn that driver deserves an award. That shootout was off the chain. He must have had a small caliber hand gun because dude got shot and still crawled and ran. I normally carry a slim 9mm with hallow points, that should have sat him down when he first shot him.
