Are new CBA rules making teams more cautious?

I understand your excitement. I was the same way when the Nets got Devin Harris.

I like DC but his attitude changed when Vogel benched him for the remainder of the season and went with Hill. He became expendable but this was expected.

The Pacers when they traded for DC thought they were getting the player who averaged 18 pts and 9.1 assists when he started and finished fourth in the rookie of the year votes.

Problem was from what I read is the Pacers accepted that DC is just a back up PG in this league. Which is what Dallas has noticed too. They didn't commit to him long term.

I see Dallas plan they can be major players this summer. Especially if Dwight makes it to free agency or CP3 decided to leave LA.

Those moves are unlikely but not impossible.

I bring up Dallas because Cuban is someone who doesn't like the new CBA and I'm looking at how he is approaching it. I see his plan but I don't think it will work,

Then again people didn't think the Nets plan with Deron would work.

I just personally feel the Mavs should rebuild. Just considering Dirk age. I use to tell large and dtown the same thing. If the Nets would have lost Deron we should rebuild.

Collinson simply didn't fit the Pacers style of offense. He was a BEAST in New Orleans to the point people started talking about trading Chris Paul. Now most of that was due to Paul's injuries at the time but Collinson didn't look like a bad backup plan. I won't sit here and say i've watched the Pacers play much but from what i've heard people simply didn't believe he could fit in their offense. He'll dominate the ball in the Mavs offense.

And Mavs didn't sign Collinson. We traded for him and he has 2 years left on his contract.

In regards to the Mavs rebuilding....how do you do it?

Dirk has a no trade clause. Do you think Dirk wants to go to a team that sucks? So at that point you are trading Dirk to a contender which will have one of the worst draft picks in the league that year. It just makes no sense.

Cuban has thought this shit out. Mavs are in a fucked up position in regards to rebuilding. All they can do is hope Mayo, Collinson and Kaman play like they've played in the past. If they don't? You got cap space.

I'm of the belief all of these stupid contracts players are getting are going to force the good players to be released or have to take below their value in free agency. Mavs got Mayo for the low.

Here is the problem.

The Owner has NEVER EVER EVER paid the Luxury Tax. He doesn't see the point in using the amnesty for Boozer but still having to pay him. As for Taj you are right about that

I know and he hasn't because he really doesn't care about the Bulls winning and Rose's injury has become a convenient excuse for him.

The problem is that as things currently are the easiest way for the Bulls to resign Gibson and avoid the luxury tax is by amnestying Boozer. Besides he'll only be on the hook for the difference between what Boozer is owed on his contract and the amount that is bid on Boozer in the auction. So the earlier he does it the more he'll save since more teams will be able to bid and have more money as well to bid.

The problem with the CBA is just how punitive is becomes once you become a team that has paid it regularly. So a team can go from paying about a dollar on every dollar over the tax limit to 3 or 4 dollars for every dollar that you're over the tax limit. So for a team like the Heat what are they going to do when Wade, Lebron and Bosh all become free agents again who are eligible for raises that are up to 105% of their previous salary. Are they going to eat that big of a tax hit?
