I hear you might be able to use the 10% off mover's coupon from the post office with this offer too, in-store only though. Some Best Buys may ask for student ID if you do it in-store

I'm having a hard time signing up for an edu address.

Okay, this should not have my attention but it does...where buy now?

I know, I'm just driveling...this sh!t NEVER happens!:smh:

Did they blacklist californiacolleges.edu addresses? I used it earlier this year without issue for a macbook, but they didnt send the email this time even though the site said the email was accepted. Maybe they caught on :smh::dunno:

wow. $750 for Netbook specs?
The premium price was arguable when they were using their own parts - especially the processor and discrete graphics, due to tweaking. Now they are using off the shelf Intel chips, chipsets and stock graphics. I've got shit that is 7+ years old with Linux on it that has slightly better specs.

The mac book air only has 4gb of ram. The macbook pro w/retina cost most but you have the option of 8g or 16b of ram. I do 3d animation and edit a lot of video. The macbook air is worthless to me. Adobe After Effects would struggle with only 4gb of ram.

If you're doing that type of work on any laptop, you're doing it wrong. A retina macbook pro can do it, but you can get an imac that's much faster for a lot less money.

Gm
I'm looking to get into djing, i was told to get a mac book i7. Did i get the correct info or are there any other options that would work just as well? Those i7's are over 2g's. I don't know if i really wanna spend that much.
Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

For all those above who were talking about graphic design and djing and other things that require a good amount of resources, look past the MacBook Air. It is supposed to be a daily driver laptop. Sub 3lbs, decent speed for simple task (browsing the web, streaming porn, downloading music and movies, sending email) if that's all you do on your laptop, it's a great buy. If you need more, get a retina MacBook Pro, or another line of computer.

Alienware makes desktop replacement laptops that are equipped to run all those programs, many of them simultaneously... and they cost less than the Macbook Pro Retina.

I have an air with an i7 8 gigs of ram and a 500gb ssd. It does most everything I want to do.

Unless you're crushing video, why would you do that on a laptop anyway? The air has me leaving my 17" i7 16 gig ram 2 terabyte dual ssd macbook pro at home.

Apple has mastered the art of selling you shit without telling you shit. This ad being a great example of which.

Wudup Ming,
So what do you suggest i look into for just djing, that can handle continuous play for maybe 10 - 12 hours with an external drive connected to it?

But do they cost less than a desktop PC with the same or better specs?

I can't do shit with 128 gb :smh:...except connect it to my new 3T drive
run the os and apps on the ssd

keep the media on external

you can get a 2**gb ssd for $130,
a 500gb ssd is $250 on amazon

maybe in the future they will get cheaper

Oh I feel you.. But the company I currently consult as well as a couple I have contracts with have the mac pro desktop. I'm just trying to keep this consistent. I already have this http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/desktops/ideacentre/k-series/k450/ and I've max the ram out to 32gb.
That's a nice setup.

Depending on what specs you want, go with an Alienware and you don't have to get the latest (more expensive) models. You can find them a generation or two old with the hardware you want, max out the memory, install a ssd (if it doesn't already have one), and go nuts. That's more than enough to handle a 10-12 hour gig.
But do they cost less than a desktop PC with the same or better specs?
They have comparable prices depending on how you customize them, but a part of what you're paying for is mobility. Even though it's a "desktop replacement" unit, you're not relegated to working at a desk. I've completed video editing projects and rendered them on flights... can't do that with a desktop.

your confusing this macbook with a chromebook
you dont know what your talking about

have a blast just dont drop the frail little piece of shit

im not a fan of how Apple builds their laptops they all run extremely to damn hot and the last air i had would cut off from overheating

they really need to redesign these bitches so they can breath
