Anyone working with PeopleSoft?

whats up fam

i've been working with ps for about 4 months now. im a ba for hrms and finance. i also get exposure to security and countless classes

i'm only makin 55k now but i hope to make 6 figures in 4 years. based on that, what area should i be focusing on?

my boss wants me to be a jack of all trades but from experience the people who specialize seem to make more dough. plus knowing every thing about ps will take over 10 years i estimate

funny shit is I've posted this question a few times got the same response, which was nothing or very little

i went to a PS convention and was literally the only black person there. that tells me the market is not oversaturated and you cant take a 6 week course to learn what i do now.

so i guess i can infer from the lack of skilled PS people out there I got lucky getting promoted to this profession

explain to me what it is my nigga...from what I can gather its some IT or Helpdesk type shit? Is this a certification? How do you get in it? How profitable do you think this is gonna be?

lol nah i use to work help desk. Peoplesoft deals with work flow or business work flow such as paying bills or paying salary. my new title is business analyst. every time you get a check or office supply re-up, service and training it went through a process. PeopleSoft or another ERP(enterprise resource plan) was behind it.

there no schools really, its all on the job training. its owned by oracle now so you have a lot of oracle programmers that migrate over to peoplesoft. the fact that a lot of kats dont know about it and how hard it is to get in a department that offers training will keep the salaries from 60k-115k

check salary.com and look up business analyst

Am I the only one that works with PeopleSoft?? Nah cant be. I heard its a real good field to be in. I wanted to know what area of PeopleSoft is the best to concentrate. I work with all modules of HR, Finance and workflow/security. Im a Business Analyst from Requisitions to NewHires to workflow, system processes, Benefits etc

My company is cheap and they got me when I didnt know shit. I only make 45k now but they said with experience I can double that because we access to many environments including SND, DEV, STG for development Payroll, North American Payroll, Time and Labor, Asset Management, GL, Upload Journal App Designer, NVision...AND Oracle Architecture

I literally have access to all of this and have to be able to trouble shoot each thing I listed. I guess my manager is paying me in experience rather than money because I'm so new to people soft

Any feedback would be a blessing. Thanks

bump for the IT kats and anyone else this may help. I'm startin to think I may have a rare skill with Peoplesoft. I dont think its personal why I havent gotten a response

Bro. The only other black person I know is this girl I used to help in college with her labs and she said she was with the company for years.

no prob B. Thanks for the feedback. Its a rare skill and no schools teach it. Sounds about right for your friend. Its all on the job training so an employer already knows you have experience when you apply

what is it that you want to know? are you on the datawarehouse end? noetix? It's very rare to go from a support position to peoplesoft. $55 g's is severly underpaid for a PS DWH position.

Lots of folks work with PeopleSoft. All you got to do is put on a PeopleSoft T-shirt, and they will come up to you.

'Course, there is working with PeopleSoft, and there is WORKING with PeopleSoft. I used to earn six figures as a PeopleSoft Administrator and Oracle DBA. Some functional Specialist earn more than technical specialists; our lead Financial guy was a CPA.

Don't expect to network PeopleSoft on a porn site!

Join a PeopleSoft RUG (regional users group) if you want to network. There are plenty of Black folks, at least there are in the Middle Atlantic RUG

Don't kid yourself. PeopleSoft is booming. PeopleSoft training is big business. BIG BUSINESS!!!

Maybe your boss is keeping you in the dark. Check out Oracle University, then confront your boss.

Be aware of your bosses point of view. One problem in the industry is that PeopleSoft training is expensive: $2000.00 for a one week course - plus airfare, hotels, and per diem - in addition to your salary. In addition, people expect a raise once they are trained, and will often change companies for higher pay. As a result: some companies raid other companies for trained employees, rather than train their own employees only to have them raided. Other companies keep their employees in the dark, and hire consultants when they need an expert.

PeopleSoft consulting is also big business. You can start out as a 1099 contractor earning $60/hr. Know your shit, and you will always have work!

this is the kind of input I was hoping to get. Thanks so much. I'm learning a lot about security ( roles, permission lists, work flow, Time and labor security...etc). I'm leaning more towards security admin and HR functional/technical. My work situation is unique whereas I even field tickets for PS financials, GL and Nvision. I also trouble shoot SQRs and app engine processes through process monitor.

I also have acess to HR production, financial production and SND, development and staging testing environments. What I'm not making in pay I guess I'm getting in knowledge for now. Thanks again bro for the info

PeopleSoft is a CRM application. our company uses a external developer for some projects and dude "Cheeke" is black (African). if you learn something like PS or SAP you will be making 6 figures in no time. ive worked as a BA and in IT. i've been thinking about going towards the collaboration side of things and attacking sharepoint services/portal more it seems easier and i know more about it already.

outside of the African dude that we outsource to i dont know any other black people in the field.
