Especially with the impending climate change with the ocean waters. There’s no way in hell I will purchase any property in Florida especially near the coast right now.FL has become a money pit now, even if your rich why would you want to just throw money away with all this BS with no real future value on your property
I said this was going to happen months ago. I hate to say this, but majority of Florida deserve this because they put knucklehead back into power. Hurricane Ian tried to warn them.
Right now the best place to go if you are black is in Metro Atlanta. The houses are not as cheap as they used to be, but they are still reasonable. Parts of Birmingham and Montgomery is sort of OK but you may have a huge issue with the government of Alabama. We aren't priced out YET, but I don't see things getting any cheaper no time soon. So rather than throwing money at these insurance companies, I am considering getting out of the state. Couple that with the asshole governor, its a no brainer. I've started looking at demographic stats for around the country. The major pockets of black people live at or east of the Mississippi. Out west, the pockets are very small (comparably). I don't want to be land locked and I don't like snow.
Going to be a hell of a search.![]()
The guy who ran against DeSantis was talking about this, but stupid ass Florida didn’t listen.I've noticed since 2006. Particularly how it affects retired aged folks who wound up having to find work in their 80's. After their HOA fees go from $60 to $550.
House scammers are going to have a field day with these dumb cacs down there flipping flooded houses. MFs going to think their getting a deal and will end up in debt or bankruptcy. We aren't priced out YET, but I don't see things getting any cheaper no time soon. I wasn't comfortable with their ability to pay claims or even be in business when I needed them. So I stuck with a major name.I got a better deal going from a national carrier to a small local accredited insurance
I made a few posts about this subject a few months ago during the midterms. I knew this was coming when they reelected death sentence. White republican voters, especially the old ones are their own worst enemy.Good post. I had no idea.
I have quite a few family members who moved from Miami to ATL. It was cool 15 yrs ago, but none of them recommend moving there now.Right now the best place to go if you are black is in Metro Atlanta. Shit I still recommending people moving here (I live in Atlanta by the way). Florida is becoming a hell hole. Whatever problems Atlanta have I will deal with it versus staying in Florida right now.I have quite a few family members who moved from Miami to ATL. You guys are going to have to change your government from top to bottom to get quick change if they don’t thenNot yet, but it's getting there. My property insurance went from $1,900 a year to $7,200.. My taxes were already high because I live in South Florida + my city has the second-highest tax rate in the fucking state. We're trying to shop for new insurance, but everywhere is giving us excuses.
If there isn't some relief in the next couple of years I'm gonna be out of this bitch. When you factor this + the hard right shift in the state politics that was already very conservative + my area becoming overrun with Hispanics who speak little to no English, I have no interest in staying here long term.
Around 2018 the construction of retirement communities has been booming here in VA, we wired up alot of these community buildings and they look immaculate and they have everything there you would need and want.I've noticed since 2006. Particularly how it affects retired aged folks who wound up having to find work in their 80's. After their HOA fees go from $60 to $550.
If so, where are you considering moving to?

I was raised in Miami. I was born in Cordele, Georgia and my mom in 1977 moved to Miami. People don’t know this but Miami in the 70s before the Cuban boat-lift was awesome according to what my mom and my family member told me. The 80s was pretty decent but when the mid 90s hit I started noticing a change and I Quickly got the hell out of dodge. You have to be able to afford a house first
People romaticize Florida like it's Miami Vice but it's not. When you have money and can just pack up,come and go as you please Florida is a beautiful place but it's always something and that gap in wealth will get wider and people think it's bad now, wait and see.
Everywhere but, mostly Virginia BeachWhat part of VA??
Brian Kemp ain’t no betterShit I still recommending people moving here (I live in Atlanta by the way). Florida is becoming a hell hole. Whatever problems Atlanta have I will deal with it versus staying in Florida right now.
I agree, but metro Atlanta water down the Republican bullshit in the state sometimes. Georgia is almost officially a purple state and the white only population in this state is only at 51% as of 2020. Things are changing rapidly.Brian Kemp ain’t no better
The problem with that map is already outdated, hurricane Ian made that map outdatedAlso keep in mind that homeowners insurance and flood insurance are two separate policies
Google the Flood map in your area to determine if you need it. The higher the number the height you sit above sea level
Sigh anybody living in flood zone 4 less than likely didnt get flooded and 5 dam sho’ didn’t get floodedThe problem with that map is already outdated, hurricane Ian made that map outdated
