I've been fasting for the past 3 days and I have to tell you that I feel wonderful. It was just out of the blue! Something just told me to stop eating and drink more water. So here I am a rookie at this and I was just wondering if any of you guys have any info. Also too my beer belly has went down, plus I think I've lost a couple of pounds too.

is it a good thing to workout in the gym while fasting and what can I eat or drink besides water?

I heard about that. More water and exercise cleans the body and brings all your energy into alignment.
 
i fast everyday homie, real shit dont eat anything untill after 6 and its usually a turkey sandwich or fruit or vegetables when i do....off course you feel weak for a few hours throughout the day,but its actually not that bad at all....i had to because i was starting to eat like one of those obese brothas off tlc:smh:

Go to the fitness and health board...I think Gene Cisco did a post on this...and i think he exercises while fasting...but he has been doing it for a while
 
Fasting is only good for a man who sits at home and does nothing for most of the day but if you're an active man throughout the day you must eat and eat properly and healthily so that your body gets the best benefit from what you're putting into it.

I had a kidney transplant 14 months ago and ever since then I have changed my entire life style with regards to eating and taking proper care of myself. Since the transplant I have lost almost 15kg in weight, regained full fitness and feel healthier than I have eaver felt in my entire life. I owe all that to having a good portion of fibre ( from fruits, wholemeal bread, cereals, prune juice and others ), vegetables and salads every day without fail, and by motivating myself to get regular exercise during the week. I have stopped eating fried, fatty and greasy foods and have totally cut out fizzy, high sugar level drinks. I drink at least 3 cups of green tea each day, Y'all got to start drinking that 'shit', it's one of the greatest things out there to boost your health. It also helps to check your progress with regards to your weight and fitness level by keeping a dairy of weight loss and exercise each day. Believe me, keeping a diary and seeing your efforts progressing each day ( no matter how small the progress ) is a great motivation.

Y'all ignorant niggas need to start taking good care of yourself and stop thinking that bad shit can't happen to you. I had to learn the hard way and now at 43 yrs old I have learnt my lesson well.

I would NOT work out other than maybe a walk. This is a time of detoxification and recuperation. I'm on day 2 right now. Only thing I allow myself is my coffee in the AM, SF gum and distilled water. The old lady is with me but she does veggie juice from her juicer. I'd rather have nothing than drink a carrot-garlic-tomato-red bell pepper juice cocktail. On day 3 U should start getting the euphoria thing going on. Like a spiritual awakening or something. In reality you're probably just tripping off all the chemicals your fat is releasing. But I dunno. I'm shooting for 10 days, IF I can cut it. Never done that many B4. Drink LOTS of water!! LOTS!!! This is a good time to read health articles on the net pages for a motivation boost.

Strategically coming off the fast is SO VERY important! Ease back into your normal eating. Fruit juice first day mixed with water, next day maybe some soft fruit and boiled egg white and so on. G'Luck with it.

wtf how is it not...define fast.there are several types of ways u can fast...i choose not to eat till after a certain time and when i do eat its a health turkey sandwich on wheat
 
You can fast and workout... Since this is your first fast, you may not want to do anything too strenuous, but Im a regular faster and I dont change my regular routine at all. I play ball 2-3 hrs six days a week, even while fasting... no problems. I do use a sugar free sports drink during those times just to replace electrolytes, but dont believe that while you fast, you have to be still and sit in the dark:rolleyes:

Some people feel that exercise (particularly anaerobic activities) in a fasted state is more beneficial www.leangains.com . Experiment and see what works for you

you will gain it right back when you start eating again,,, your body goes into survival mode when it is without food,,, right now you are using your body fat for energy, rather than food,,,when you start eating again, your body converts that food to fat immediately, in case it has to go days or weeks without food again

Not if he eats in small portions.
He wont give his body enough chances to store small excess amount of food as fat but rather use it as energy.

I used to fast a lot in the 80s. I've just got back into it recently. I usually do a water fast on my days off. But since I have 3 days off a week, I'm trying to do a fruit juice and water fast (water one day. Water and juice the next day). Then on the third day, I'll cook a healthy meal. Or just have a trail mix all day.

I would suggest walking as exercise, if you're fasting. It's the least stressful on the body during a fast. I don't think a gym workout is wise. You may be reaching for a steak before you know it.

Fasting can be fun and refreshing.
Get to know how your body works during one.
And you'll be better for it.

I'm not now, but i'm planning on doing the "master cleanse" in about 2 weeks. Just started working out again recently. Planning to try the P90 system soon...pray for me lol

You're feeling wonderful is your body's relief from all the junk you eat and drink. Your body needs food fasting is like not putting gas or oil in a car and saying its running great.
 
I started my fast Sunday the 24th around 6pm.

I havent had any food, beer, weed, tobacco, or sex since then only that master cleanse mixture, green tea, and water.

I must say that I have this strange energy that I cannot put into words.

I plan on keep this up throughout the week until this coming Sunday. My intentions for this fast is too see where my discipline is and how much of it I really have...the weight loss, cleanse, and the spiritual/mental awakening is just the icing on the cake.

that's the purpose of fasting,,, it's an exercise in discipline,,, however, there will be no long term weight loss from fasting,,, especially when you return to your regular unhealthy eating habits

I dont think anyone is disputing the fact that ultmately the body WILL need food, thats obvious, but over the course of 3,4,7,10 or even 14 days your body can be deprived of it and this will actually benefit you in the long run.

Catz out there need to start drinking that green tea. It's one of the best things out there for real health benefits.

Naw! For years if I don't eat breakfast I get sick. I finally got my body use to going without it which was necessary cause of my daily routines. my diet is chicken, turkey, water rice macaroni, potatoes, water everyday..... you get the picture no junk food, fast food, sodas etc.

Yeah! I do but not. Shit is hard cause they expire so quickly and 2 you gotta buy so much of it especially when you don't have to feed just yourself. Its easy to cut the other stuff out just don't buy it.
 
Please let me get some things straight as I KNOW them.

1. You can exercise and fast. Of course if this is your first fast I would take it slow, but those of us that can do the damn thing really don't miss a beat, I been working out on an empty stomach for years. And when I first started fasting I was able to life weights and play ball for hours.

2. It is mind of matter. Get past the hellish 2 or 3 days and you will not be hungry anymore. Fat burning is at its peak between day 3 to day 10 or 11.

3. Thing or 2 about exercise. IMHO move it or lose it. If you are not using muscle, guess what? Your body don't think it is needed. If you use muscle it will be the last thing it will come after. Ketosis is muscle sparing.

4. come off slowly, the day you come off do orange juice and baby food.

5. Drink plenty of green tea during the fast, trust me on this you will feel a lot better, it will help your body deal with the toxins. If you can hit the steam or sauna.

6. You can also take a milk thistle supplement for your liver, as it will be extra fucking busy.

I have been doing this for years, experimented, talked to the 'experts' and have come up with many fucking fasts for all fucking occasions and benefits.

Nobody can tell me the shit don't work cause I have seen to many people turn their lives around in such a short time. Muthafuckas have broke smoking habits, drinking habits, food cravings, fat loss sticking points, etc.

Fuck a breakfast. Yeah I said it, have some coffee(don't be a latte drinking pussy piling all that shit in it either) or green tea(same thing, no sugar you pussys) or maybe a piece of fruit if you must. But you will grow to function much better with out it watching people 'crash' all around you midday.

You're trying to find a cute way to say you're anorexic. Which is basically what you are doing. It's not how much you eat, it's what you eat and your body needs fuel. Stop being idiots. Eating breakfast is the most important thing you can do. If you're not eating that you're throwing your body out of cycle. If you sleep for 6-8 hours then go all day with no food, you're running off your body's limited resources.
 
Original poster sounds like a nigga with no job. A man who gets up and goes to work daily can't fast. They can eat better and stop eating at a certain time, but fasting is a no bueno. With the type of work I do. I'd kill myself. Lifting and walking outside I need my food energy. Since I've gotten a more manual job I've started to eat better to have the right kinds of food energy. I've been eeating a ton of leans meats and beans. Shit them beans be good as fuck. Last week I had pinto, and black beans. I want to adds some lima and something else this week.

Breakfast. What limited resources? Your body is not even depleted of glycogen yet. Ketosis ain't kicking in that soon.

Thing is, most americans have enough fuel, that is why they are FAT.

Starvation occurs when you body gets down to low body fat levels and low LBM levels, your body will try to cannibalize amino acids from vital organs.

Fasting-Starvation 2 different animals.
