The totality of all his commentary revolving around anything remotely of social or civil consequence is what makes him a coon. This just further hammers home the point.
Hes one of those "i dont see race" and "pull your pants up and they will respect you more" knee grows. Dont wanna embrace blackness unless its to play down to stereotypes while playing the jester role for white folk.
Thank you.

You got all that shit from the few jokes he just made?
I didnt find his answer funny but damn, comedians swing and miss sometimes.
Nah bro. His act isnt remotely new. I got it from all the interviews ive seen and read from him over the years. I understand your reluctance tho. I too gave him benefit of the doubt the first few times i heard him saw questionable shit. You got all that shit from the few jokes he just made?

I wish you were right bro. Unfortunately ive seen and heard far too much to discount it. But to be fair, if i were judging solely on the above clip i wouldnt agree with how im labeling him either.Ah, I see.
I understand your point.
I just don't agree with it.
To me; Anthony Mackie is one of those actors who's been around in Hollywood for a while but who never really blew up until about 2-3 years ago.
Neither his film resume nor his past behavior lend themselves to him being labelled a coon, a sellout or an embarrassment to Black people.
He seems like a jovial kind of guy who's enjoying his new "high profile" status and likes to show everyone that he's not one of those "too serious" actors that people can't approach.
He's had more than enough time to understand how Hollywood works and how to tailor his public interviews to maximize his new found fame & fortune. No more. No less.
From what I saw; he was just making a joke about the kind of caliber a solo Falcon movie could be. I think you guys might be taking it a tad bit too seriously.
And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Black Dynamite a "Blaxploitation" film spoof along the same vein as to what Anthony Mackie was proposing?
Black Dynamite was very well received by many people on this board and it didn't make Michael Jai White nor the entire cast "coons".
Just a thought...![]()

No doubt bro..10-4.
I understand.
And thank you for engaging in this dialogue. So few people are so gracious and civil enough to do so on this board without becoming nasty.
But I openly admit to being unaware of any examples of brother Mackie being a "Clarence Thomas or Larry Elder" style coon.
Perhaps you would be kind enough to point me in the right direction to finding some credible sources...?

No doubt bro..
Some of the quotes i remember off hand are or refer to: black directors not being particularly important, discounted the importance of black directors by marginalizing the concept by comparing it to animals directing animal themed movies, wanting to live around non blacks (promoting the diversity of his friends), blaming black victims of police brutality and profiling based on their hairstyle (cut your dreads), said blacks need to be quiet and listen to how white people feel about police brutality of blacks, voting for trump (he tried to walk it back after he got eviscerated on social media), denying racial bias in the industry and that blacks are bombarding whites with race too much right now....

“Like my nephew wanted to grow dreadlocks. I’m like fine, I’ll sit you down and I’ll watch The First 48 with you and everybody you see on that show, that’s doing something wrong, they’re black dudes with dreadlocks. So, do you want to be seen as part of the problem or do you want to be an individual?”
“Let’s just say you have locks and you walking down the street. The police pull you over and say you fit the description of somebody. You start yelling and arguing with the cops. Next thing you know you pressed up against the wall going to jail for something you’re not even involved in just because you look like somebody and you don’t know how to handle yourself,
“People are just tired of being bombarded with race right now,” says the actor. “So everybody is shying away from certain topics and certain movies. If you look at all the movies and actors that are nominated, they all gave damn good performances.
On Trump.....
"I would 100 percent want to run Trump's campaign. 100 percent," he said. "I mean, first that'll be the best party ever when he won, and second, Trump's an easy sell... When you look at Trump, he's an easy sell because you can sell him as the guy who worked his way up from nothing. And I think if you're a 'pull yourself up by your bootstraps' candidate, people would identify with that."

Anthony Mackie Doesn't Care If 'Black Panther' Director Is Black: "They Didn’t Get a Horse to Direct 'Seabiscuit' "
