Angulo vs Kirkland Winner in Line To Face Saul Alvarez

According to junior middleweight Alfredo "Perro" Angulo, the scheduled clash with James Kirkland (29-1, 26KOs) is going to be a WBC final eliminator. The winner will be in line to challenge champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. The fight happens on November 5th in Cancun, Mexico, and co-promoted by Pepe Gomez, Golden Boy Promotions and Cancún Boxing. Angulo is training with Nacho Beristain.

"For my last fight, we worked for two weeks with Don Nacho and we worked together very well. For this fight, I decided to come early in order to get more time to work with him," Angulo (20-1, 17KOs) said. "The WBC ordered an eliminator between Vanes [Martirosyan] and myself, but he refused and [the WBC] told me that the mandatory fight will move forward. If everything goes well, we are going to be ranked number one in the world, and then we'll search for the world title. I have no interest in any fighter in particular, I am ready for any worthy champion."

Angulo sparred for four rounds with Gilberto "Flaco" González and now he's waiting for a paid of left handed fighters to arrive this week.

I actually like this a lot... even though Gomez deserves a rematch.

I like Angulo in that fight with Kirkland....

Canelo last performance wasn't good I think Angulo will give him problems....

Any combo of fights involving Alvarez, Angulo, and Kirkland should definitely be worth watching. ^^^^I like Angulo too Poet. Kirkland got his chin checked by a light punching Korean. I think Angulo is gonna put that head out.

My predict on any of these combinations

Angulo vs Kirkland = Angulo

Angulo's chin will have him in there for the long haul and Kirkland trades too much for a guy with real power behind his shit.

Alvarez vs Angulo = Alvarez

Alvarez is quick, skilled and has shown boxing IQ at times so I can see him carefully out boxing Angulo.

Kirkland vs Alvarez = Kirkland

I just don't know if Alvarez can handle the pressure. Gomez put that pressure on Alvarez and he barely found his footing. Just when he started to catch Gomez with some shots it was stopped. I think Alvarez may have taken over from that point, but if you substitute a hard hitting and pretty fast Kirkland for Gomez... I don't know.

A moving forward granite chin break him down fighter like Angulo IMO would have more sucess than Kirkland who leaves his weak chin wide open when he is on the offensive...

I haven't seen Canelo fight any fighters with this style it would be interesting no matter who wins (Kirkland Vs Angulo)...

Wow, back with Ann and James jumps into the deep water, huh? I think it might be a little soon but I can't knock him for getting good fights when they're are so many other top guys (Bradley, Cotto) avoiding them.

A moving forward granite chin break him down fighter like Angulo IMO would have more sucess than Kirkland who leaves his weak chin wide open when he is on the offensive...

But he's a lot slower too though. In this regard I think Kirkland might do better against Alvarez as well. Angulo was outboxed by Cintron and I see Alvarez doing the same type of thing. We don't really know how Canelo will react with a fast, powerful pressure fighter like Kirkland gets him on the ropes. But his chin is a huge ?

Yeah... that's what I was thinking. Both Kirkland and Angulo only know how to move forward, but only one of the two is going to be all over you without giving you time to think. Gomez was having success with that type of thing and it might have been a fluke... but in general, young fighters have trouble when they have someone all in their face, letting those things go with some heat on 'em. So I can see Kirkland throwing Canelo completely off of his game and maybe hurting him before he can adjust.

This. Angulo is much more of a stalker than Kirkland who launches himself at opponents.

the reason I think Angulo would do better is he attacks the body more than Kirkland who straight head hunts & throws big punches...

I never really seen Canelo's footwork but I think Angulo can break him down better than Kirkland can....
