Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese each returned to their former college arenas for WNBA preseason action — but one game had a bit more buzz than the other.

Reese’s LSU homecoming took place on Friday, with the Tigers’ arena looking more or less empty. Meanwhile, Clark’s return to Carver Hawkeye Arena was sold out right away after tickets went on sale — and it culminated in a packed house Sunday afternoon.

Ahead of Clark’s game with all the talk of a sellout, Reese’s mom, Angel Webb Reese, took to X with a message to those comparing the two’s homecoming attendances.

“Aww that certain fan base looking in the stands celebrating ‘attendance’ while others are looking up in the rafters celebrating championship banners,” Webb Reese wrote. “We ain’t the same. Different year same haters Have a great day.”

Webb Reese’s comments stem from her daughter and Clark’s ongoing rivalry on the court, which was especially turbulent when the two squared off in the 2023 national championship game, where Reese and LSU took down Clark and Iowa, 102-85.

Clark has never engaged all that much in the chatter, and she and Reese both insist that there’s no ill will and it’s all just in competitive spirit.

While Webb Reese’s post is more so directed at the fans who drove the discourse surrounding the attendance discrepancies, it still certainly suggests that there’s a bit of sourness in the hype that Clark receives, all while LSU took her down and won a title just two years ago.

The Indiana Fever’s exhibition game against the Brazilian national team in front of Clark’s alma mater wound up in a whopping 108-44 Fever win, where Clark finished with 16 points.

The Iowa legend received endless fanfare, which even included Brazil’s players and its head coach, who praised Clark by saying, “You’ve changed the history in basketball.”

“I appreciate it. Thanks for coming here and playing us,” Clark replied.

Reese’s exhibition game with the Chicago Sky was also against the Brazilian national team. The Sky won 89-62, and Reese finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds in front of her alma mater, where she spent two years and was a vital piece in raising the banner in 2023.

“I’m just happy to be back to see all the fans, even down to the security guards, because I know how much was put into this program,” Reese said.

CC is the goat!!!This next Saturday's game between the Sky and Fever will be a test for the "new" Reese. How will she do? What kind of impact will she have on that game? After watching the Fever in the past 2 post-season games, I am willing to bet that this will be an Indiana win. Will it be hard fought, yes I think it will be. But what Indiana has for depth on the bench that will be the telling point. And take notice Chicago fans this years Fever team will not be pushed around like last year. As proven in the Mystics game that type of play will backfire on the teams that want to play that way. With amount of people that showed up for the Shy game against Brazil is proof that Angel is not the draw to womens basketball.

Fuck ugly ass CC she is busted and plain, she got a wicked gameplay but when it comes to everything else she's not even average.

If they both worked at your local Wendy's. Caitlin would be the ugly girl at the counter while Angel would be the pretty tall girl in the Drive-Thru.
