Just got back from her show! Hey ya'll, this is one BAD BITCH!!! I knew it back with her 1st album but after seeing her live, its confirmed. I believe this is her 1st tour in the states. This weekend she will be in phili and boston b4 she leaves to canada and then back home. If she in your town... dont sleep.

If you make music or are a musician or just love good music in general this chic is BOSS and a true musical ispiration for her peers and aspiring artist. I know she aint all that attractive and she skinny and suspect of drinking and drugs but that shit did not matter 2 night. I aint even gonna trip on the fact that it took this white bitch to make the soul album to give r&b and jazz the shot in the arm it so desperately needed.

Yeah,I have FrostWired a couple of her cuts...but,please somebody tell this skank that rehab might be a good idea.

Before I might have snuck over,now....

i know i'm wrong but it's so hard for me to get really excited about white soul artists. i like a few of her tracks but i can't listen to it on the regular. i did like joss stone's debut cd that was full of covers but i'm still not like WOW! i don't know...there's something about the deepness or new dimension in a black person's voice that most white folks just cannot emulate. its hard to explain and maybe i'm delusional...i dunno...
but yeah...amy's cool i guess :yes:

i'm really interested in bringing her to st. louis, but afraid that she flakes the show or give one of her drugged-out shows. sounds like she ripped it though!

I agree!! But for me, its not really about color or trying to emulate or copy. On purpose I listen to new artist without imposing images as not to "color" my ear. Music is the universal language. I have that luxury since I get a lot of promos that often come with no imagery anyway, so its all about the music. I remember for years many people though Etta James was black but she aint.

Honestly I have been looking at the phenom of white artist from the uk and their ability to "lay down the soul". White American artist just cant seem to do it the same way and i think it has to do with the "healthy" racial relationships that is enjoyed in EU in general. They just get along much better there than we do. Since EU whites embrace "soul" more genuinly than whites do over in the states, i think it transpires better in their art. Dont even talk about the black soul artist in EU. Cats like Omar, julie Dexter, Incognito make the state's best soul artist sound like bubblegum. The soul strength in the states is still in the church.

Whits folks in England have been keeping "soul" music alive since the 80's! After we abandonned it, they kept it going. Good music is good music.

Etta James is as Black as Halle Berry, Bob Marley and Lenny Kravitz...Her mother was a Black woman and her father was rumored to be Minnesota Fats. Just an FYI.

B4 that, the ones who really got embraced by the Soul music used to study jazz and especially Blues in the 60s and shit

Was watching that Thirteen documentary about that Turkish kat Ahmet who started Atlantic records ( the bald character who own the record label in RAY who wasnt represented that well in the flick according to him lol) - he took it back to the rare soulful British kats like Robert Plant, Clapton, RollingStones, Phil Collins and the like who embraced that Soul in their music; McCartney used to be more soulful in his younger Wings years also from that whole influence;

the show was a trip as his schiesty, payola bag passing ass broke down the foundation to that label and the deep roots of its R&B based foundation;
ironically,m that kat died falling down the stairs last yr @ a RollingStones concert;

what truly tripped me out was how the effects of Jazz and swing esp CabCalliway and DukeEllington touched this diplomat's son so deeply thathe found his 7th grade ass up in Harlem all night and into the next day, getting shown love, taking shots and blazing ism amongst the legends in rent parties, speakeasies and throughout the hood all off of his love and obsession for real good music

She looks like she needs some help.

Else, she'll go the way of David Ruffin.

She should keep doin' what she's doin'. It's working. Alcoholic singers are hardly unsual, in fact many of the greats were exactly that. I guess it's just easier to accept (and admire) a heavy-drinking rock star who makes great music than a booze-lovin' chanteuse who does likewise, but there's no damn difference.

The left picture is the current one and the one of the right is the before picture

But there's still that tat on the inside of her arm that is missing now :confused:
