Anybody have an account with ameritrade?

Do you reccomend it?

Are returns on investments that great?

Is it good for people getting started in investing?

Whats the minimum to get started?

Dont use them. They have a minimum fee and inactivity fee.
Use scottrade.com or OptionsXpress.com

Neither of them have a minimum or inacitivity fee. Only with scottrade you must open the account with $500.

OptionsXpress only need $1 to open. My girl uses scottrade and she likes it. I like optionsxpress more because I can gamble more with them. I can do more creative investments. Stuff you wont need to worry about now but later you may want to try.

I use them they are ok, 10.99 a trade. If you keep 2000.00 there are no fees to Ameritrade. You may want to look at sharebuilder.com to start with 4.00 for buys 15.99 sells. Plus with sharebuilder there is no minimum. They do the trade every month from your checking account. I would look to energy since it looks like the US team will be visiting IRAN next0

The cheapest is Scottrade ( https://www.scottrade.com ), only $7 per trade. I've had an account with them for the past 5 years but I have not done any trading for a while.
