The second week of American Idol showed more wacky audition performances, and dirt on a potential 'Idol.' Perrie Cataldo, the widowed single dad, has an arrest record for a gun charge in 2006. (Jan. 23)

If the Gun was legit I don't see where the problem...Hell if it was not legit I still don't see the problem

That's hardly surprising given the story he told about what happened to his baby's mother (murdered, I believe -- "wrong place, wrong time, wrong crowd"). Seems like he comes from a rough background.

Given the amount (and cross-section) of people who try out for the show, there's always gonna be folks with records of one sort or another. Comes up every season.

I don't care if he shot a motherfucka. If he served the time, athe police are no longer concerned, what the fuck does American Idol care?

exactly! A true american idol probably stole some shit, slapped somebody, and cheated on final exams lol.... Who cares. Just sing!

systems too fucked up for people with priors on their list.....

shit if they did the time or payed the fine then leave them alone

You Know!!!

The show probably leaked the info though for publicity, I'm really...

Who cares?

The #1 show in the country doesn't need that kind of publicity. Fact is, once these folks appear on TV they become fair game for anyone who wants to blow the whistle on them.

Beyond that, you do have to tell the truth on your application. It behooves the show to know what the background is of the person they're getting involved with. They've been embarrassed more than enough times by the participants.

Man, American Idol thrives on this type of publicity. What is more american than this...lol...plus the show has been reported as losing ratings...I just don't think they should give a fuck, and can't see why they would...

It's still the #1 and #2 show in the country and this dude is still a NOBODY. He hasn't gotten anywhere yet (and wasn't even that good in his debut audition). Fact is, these stories pop up all the time about contestants. No big deal. If he was a finalist it might matter. Right now, no one knows who he is or cares. He's of no use to their ratings since he won't appear again for weeks, by which time he'll be long forgotten (if he hasn't been kicked off already for lying about his record).

come on, have a fucking heart...It's just a gun charge, I know, I know, shit you probably think a traffic ticket is worthy of a heart attack, but my point is comparably that is nothing, and for american idol to hold that against him is ridiculous...

Who said the show was holding anything against him? He's just another one of the countless contestants who have a little more going on in their backgrounds than is represented by their initial heartwarming stories.
