Amazon fires back at Wal-Mart by slashing free-shipping threshold 3 Hours Ago | 00:36

Adding to the e-commerce battle among retailers to woo customers over with special deals, Amazon is now making it even easier for shoppers to qualify for free shipping — and $10 cheaper.

In February, Amazon reduced its minimum order amount required to qualify for free shipping — for non-Prime members — to $35 from $49, price tracker BestBlackFriday first reported.

Amazon's website now reads that online orders of $25 or more, featuring eligible items, will qualify for free shipping.

This news comes after big-box retailer Wal-Mart, in January, rolled out free two-day shipping for orders over $35. The shift was one of the first major changes Marc Lore made at Wal-Mart since the retailer purchased his e-commerce start-up, Jet.com, last year.

Amazon wasn't immediately available to comment.

The company hasn't formally announced these latest price changes, as Amazon has traditionally kept quiet when adjusting free-shipping minimums. The drop to $25 marks the second time in three months that Amazon has lowered its minimum requirement.

Walmart coming back with a 20 fee. You can't out do Walmart. They are relentless against competition. This fight will be good for all us consumers.

Walmart can't compete with Amazon on the internet.... I sell at Walmart and Amazon. I've only sold 20+ items on Walmart since i opened my account last year. I don't even want to think about how many items i've sold on Amazon. Amazon can make their threshold $100 and people will still shop there over Walmart. Customers trust Amazon. Most customers, including me, actually HATE going into a Walmart store.
