Clearly A.I. is not New York Knick head coach, Mike D'Antoni's preference, and definitely does not fit the coach's 5-6 year-plan. But for the past few years, TV cameras have shown too many visable vacant seats. Not good for business. So team president, Donny Walsh has too offer frustrated fans a NAME...if only Vick played basketball. There comes a time when Garden seats reigns as top priorty. Winning is nice, and it makes 'lively' bar talk, plus owning fantasy teams exciting. But having a NAME to feature help makes it all worthwhile, along with a GUARANTEE. A.I.'s presence would help make that happen...not so much the Guarantee, as the excitement.
How can the Knicks move in that direction? Twofold: (1) getting the perennial NBA all-star PG to accept the Knicks' med-level exception--1 yr./$5.8M--although Memphis can offer hil more;(2) getting D'Antoni to delay his 5-6 year plan, andf welcome A.I. with 'open arms'; (3) annoint A.I. as starting PG; and (4) publically announcing their (Knicks) intentions of NOT pursuing Bucks PG Ramon Sessions..a cheaper and much younger version-10 yrs.- of A.I.
It may come down to settling the question of 'what's more important'? Wins or a NAME.
