Your boy needs to learn how to blend tunes properly, he jumps all over from riddim to riddim, all over chronologically...this ain't even mixing, really.

what u mean 'blend tunes properly'? quit tryin 2 put ALL deejays in the same box. dude has 1 style of mixing that don't match whatever it is u heard in the past. fuk that. to the op, tell ya boy to keep doin what he doin. his style will obviously change as he experiments with various deejay styles

He's referring to riddims. You can't mix reggae or soca tracks the same way you do with hip hop or r&b. He picked some good tracks to play but jumbling them up like that isn't the way to do it.

yeah, reggae and soca are different, but there's no such thing in 'CANT' when u a d.j. in my opinon. u gotta be willin to try new/different sheit, even if some folks not ready for that mix of RIDDIMS!

im a dj so i have to agree with you...

without constructive criticism you wont progress in life

Dude definately has the hand skills when it comes to scratching

but most importantly his mixing and blending sucks

which is the most important skill of a dj

he reminds me of a couple of cats who i know that over scratch in parties becuz they cant blend

as for me i cant scratch to good but i can blend my ass off

I just got my technic 1200's today so that soon change

He's only 19 so with the right guidance he shud be a problem

just dont be a "yes man" and not tell him where he needs to improve

teach him to beat count and how to blend and hes good...

its not even about the riddims he chose.. hes just nto blending.. hes not following the principles of mixing.. hes not even dropping his songs on the first beat if hes gonna blend in

he aint that bad!! give him a break? i'm a dj myself, i know his show was playing throwback riddims but if he's really serious about playing dancehall you step your riddim game up, dead give away with one drop songs:smh::smh: but thats cool? also you can scratch dancehall songs, he needs to be a little more creative thats all?

tell em to check dj max glazer veteran in dancehall?

Ps if he needs riddims for a fee i will hook him up:lol::lol::lol::lol:

no but really, keep doing his thing, and dont let nobody knock him down:dance::dance::dance:

bullet!! bullet!!

Co-Sign.
You should take it as constructive criticism and help him elevate game.

Nothing wrong with improving your shit.

CO-SIGN on most of the post. excellent selection. he just gotta up his skills when it comes to blends... the basic element of dj'ing in any genre or style. hes on the right track though. just gotta practice more.

The track seems like a great selection. However, if the blending is all fucked up then it may not be worth downloading. Is this shit worth listening to despite the blending issues the rest of the gentlemen brought up?

for a 19 year old..good start. While this mix was MOSTLY classic joints (3 hours non-stop), this is probably the kind of example people are referring to as the way to do it...
