too bad the opponent is memphis...

even though it will take some time to work the kinks out, i'd like to see how the 2 perform together against a more competitive squad...

Q1 nuggets broke out 38-18. held that lead the rest of the way.

steve blake double digit assists (already had 10 by Q3).

carmelo anthony finding allen iverson as the outlet off the double team behind the arc.

you'll see a alley oop highlight on sportscenter for sure. AI to carmelo who finished with a 1 handed dunk.

good start to their 1st game together, but again, i'd like to see them against a team with a little more substance.

Just saw the alley. That wasn't a very good pass.
But that's how great highlights usually get made
these days. Bad pass and the receiver makes an
outstanding play to finish. See it all the time on the
Knicks, lol

One stat of note: AI only took 16 shots. JR Smith
actually took as many shots as AI did coming off
the bench in only 21 minutes. So it's clear what his
role is here (for now)

Anyway, if Iverson continues to sacrifice shots, then
this should work. One thing is for sure, the old, "he
ain't got no help"
line is null and void

People might call me crazy but I think the acquisition of Steve Blake is just as important as Denver's acquisition of Iverson.

I think Blake is a quality PG and although Kevin Pritchard and Steve Patterson decided to give the reigns to Jarrett Jack (which I can totally understand), I knew Blake could have been a solid starter on the right team.

Blake finally gives the Nuggets a true PG and will allow Iverson to play off the ball which should cut down his turnovers drastically.

Blake also can knock down the open jumper and doesnt turn it over.

But is Denver legit?

They have talent on the perimeter and formidable big men that will do the dirty work and can finish.

The only question mark about them IMO is the coach. :hmm:

In a word? NO. At least not this year.

Denvers problem is that their weakest position is everyone elses strongest. Power Forward. Unless they get consistent play out of that position, they will lose. Webber would have fit the bill, but they missed out. Now from what I have been reading Pau Gasol heaped so many praises on Denver after that game that word is that he is interested in trying to go there.

Kenyon Martin may help next year, but he is still undersized at PF.

They also need a defensive identity.

They may not be a championship contender, but they SHOULD
be contending for the western division crown RIGHT NOW

Also, about Blake: I like him, but is his shot really that good??
Dude ain't even shooting 60% on his FTs!!

You know, it kills me when players hit a higher percentage of feild goals than they do their free throws. (i.e. Tim Duncan)
