Ali Vegas sets the record straight on the deal that cost both him an 50 cent the major releases of there late 90's Albums

Too bad.
This dude chose loyalty over business and now look at were he is.
But the Trackmasters, who were smarter and more experienced, chose business over him.

The minute he realized Trackmasters weren't going to invest in him - he should have walked out on the contract and told them to keep pushing Nas, Jay, RKelly, Mariah. Do them, because he has to do him.

I mean WTF?! he had an opportunity to cut out the middle man and go direct thru Columbia but he wanted to keep the middle men in his pocket :smh:

So while 50 bounced and focused more on his career - and is now living in mansions and this dude stayed hanging on to a Tone and Poke pants cuff waiting for the dream and now Ali's still living on the block in Queens in a bunch of old Pink, Blue, Green houses like he's in the Caribbean talking about how he almost got on in the 90's and copping pleas for a feature on some big rappers record. This nigga was talking about I'll holla G-Unit or throw the diamond up (Rocafella ain't even released shit in nearly half a decade now).

That sounded like the same sad shit G-Dep / Black Rob (I forget which) was hollering on the radio about a few months ago.

Let that be a lesson to you all. Sometimes you have to learn when to seperate business from loyalty and do what's in the best interest of your pockets and ultimately, your career.

Friendship is friendship, but BUSINESS IS BUSINESS.

wasnt nobody checking for that knock off Nas anyway. He woulda been in the same situation...

ali vegas was dope. alotta tracks off that unreleased album were sick. sucks he never got a chance to shine

Ali Vegas is one of hiphop's greatest losses. I grew beards waiting for dude to blow up.
Playing all his stuff like crazy over here and constantly saying any time now...albums
on its way.......

man! I never liked trackmasters any fucking way.
I Hope it's still not too late for Ali.

Its too late. Hell, anytime after 2006 was too late. But maybe he can just drop stuff just for the core fans.

What were some of his good songs? Are they on YouTube.

Frankly, he looks/sounds like the kind of rapper that was "in style" in 2000-2006.

At this point, if he wanted to break major he'd have to shave off his mustache, put on some nuthugging jeans with an extra smedium T-shirt you can see you chest beating out of, some dayglo colored sneakers and start rhyming about how he's a loser, or how this girl broke his heart, or how good a skateboarder he is.

Bruh was goin' in during da late 90's early 00's. Niggas was calling him da 2nd coming of Nas due to da Queens association & his subject matter. You could also say that that beef between himself, DJ Clue & Fabolous also contributed to da fact that he didn't get on b/c I think that Clue may've had him blackballed as well imo. For his age @ da time bruh was raw as hell (mind you, this was also around da time of Bow Wow & Romeo too I believe). Too bad that "Generation Gap" album never seen da light of day (to my knowledge). Jojo Pelligrino is another one that should've got put on back then. Jinx da Juvy (did tracks w/G.Rap & da Black Guerilla Fam, he did a dope ass feature on G. raps "NYC") went in too.

theme of new york is my shit forever. and i aint even from new york lol

Yeah, that "Theme of New York" track did go hard though.

Vegas was always dope. From freestyling to writtens, he stayed on point. That Queens Niggas Run Shit was dope (I think that was the name of it). I guess his business moves weren't the most beneficial to him though

Nice track. Believe it or not, I never heard it.
But I can definitely hear the similarities to Nas's and a bit of AZ's rhyme style and cadence.

I hope he's worked on developing his own style ...
No one's going to really want to hear a 96 Nas knock-off at this point.

Are you a fucking idiot? At one point Ali Vegas was supposed to be the second coming of Nas. Nigga was supposed to be a rap prodigy. Fuck outta here.

Well the 2nd coming never came.
And like I said, no on is going to want a knock-off sounding Nas at this point. Nas is already having enough trouble moving units.

And what do you know about real hip-hop anyway? Shouldn't you be coddling your boyfriend Lil B's nuts right about now or wheatpasting some of his posters on the wall?

Tone and Poke were average producers and terrible businessmen who jerked everyone on their label.

I heard that. Jerked the shit out of everyone and that's why they no longer get any real projects pushed their way and artist don't holla at them.

In add't to their sound being a bit dated.

I went to school with this cat, John Adams HS.
In the summer of 98 we went to Gertz Mall basement level where a rasta had a small music shop.
He supposedly knew a lot of people so cats would come and spit a hot 16.

Ali spit some of the hardest shit I ever heard that day.
Wish I had a tape recorder back then because dude went in.
Him and this whiteboy named Johnny.

Damn rap was sweet back then.
