Aite..I'mma give it to you one time for the March of dimes..I have been in business for dam near 20 years...always make half a millie a year or better...I am a licensed plumber,HVAC, and electrician. These carpenters you speak of, are FUGAZZI. They prolly cant change with the times, and adapt to new designs, and what the people want. I'm gonna tell you right now. Construction is year round. Who's heater, hot water heater, air conditioning, roof leaks, home electrical circuits, wood rot, home renovations, choose to build new home or business only in the hot months? Brah

Good for you. But that's you. I never said the jobs are going away but the industry is changing. Home repair and rehab, of course, those are business opportunities. None of that changes the fact that we need cheap affordable College. I also believe that college isn't for everyone so Vocational education probably needs a shot arm as an option.

I have learned through failure. There is a lot of bad financial advice floating around that pertains to us. Like having your parents pay for your school in full. They should setup a trust with the money and you take out a school loan. Your income does not pan out from a bad degree, than default.

It is foolhardy for us to pay off school when our unemployment rate is high, let the government deal with the effects of employment discrimination.

When I get some time, I will explore this in more depth. Don't be a deadbeat and not pay the loans, but I will talk about a calculation you can do to determine when you should walk away and not tap this savings fund because your income did not materialize.

No...it's not just me...read this whole thread...brah

Wish college/uni and trade schools were more accessible financially. Definitely a barrier for many. On a related note - shoutout to all the employers/organizations that encourage people upgrading their skills (and cover those costs for you accordingly), and find you shift coverage as needed. All that's covered as though you're working your regular shift(s). No need to dip into your vacation or lieu day hours to book off. Our organization's good for that. The admin/management have made some good changes over the past 10 years. Prior management were less interested and phoning it in by comparison. Newer management have secured more grants and donations, earned accreditation, expanded to more locations & provided many job opportunities.

Nothing wrong with staying home but you can’t be home and be on your ass.. gotta get out there and diversify them bonds.. If you can’t do that then as a parent don’t pay for shit.. however don’t kick them on the street either...

If my sons have a plan and they need to stack paper to get to it, im wit it. Otherwise staying at home and working a reg job is a handicap to my freedom.
