According to dnainfo, the 46-year-old was shot in the head in front of his apartment building last night in Harlem. No arrests have been made.

On February 15, 1999, L was shot nine times in the face and torso in his native Harlem. Woodley, a childhood friend, pictured on the back cover of Lifestylez ov da Poor & Dangerous, was arrested for the crime but never charged. Authorities believe his death wasn’t a revenge killing because of the elapsed time. In any event, Big L Rest In Peace.

He just got out of prison Sep2015 and he has a history of violence in his record including 4 murders throughout the 1990's that he seems to have dodge charges of and Big L's one of them.

according to the xxl article back in 2000, allegedly, big l's brother bodied a dude that big l's killer was cool with. keep in mind , they were all cool. while big l's brother was locked up, dude who was close to the guy big lee( l's brother) killed, killed big l in retaliation. sad either way. big lee passed away a few years after getting out of prison.
