The Guardian Angels founder said the younger Giuliani – who served as a White House aide to former President Donald Trump – would be the best person to take on Gov. Kathy Hochul, or whomever wins the Democratic Party nomination, during an interview with
the New York Post.
“I ran into Andrew all the time on the campaign trail. I observed the way he works a crowd. He plunges into a crowd like it’s a mosh pit,” Sliwa told the paper.

He added that Giuliani is a “natural when it comes to retail politics.” Sliwa even thinks he is “better than” his father, who served as New York City mayor from 1994 to 2001.
Sliwa told the Post that he intends to campaign with both Giulianis, saying they will be “the three horsemen.”
Giuliani, 35, announced his bid for New York governor in May, becoming one of the first Republicans to enter the 2022 race.
Despite his famous last name, however, Giuliani has yet to make traction when it comes to GOP voters in New York.
In fact,
in a straw poll taken over the summer, Giuliani received no votes from Republican leaders who were asked about the party’s next choice for governor.
The poll instead indicated that Long Island Congressman Lee Zeldin, who announced his candidacy in April, would be the Republican nominee in 2022.
Sliwa, in his interview with the Post, acknowledge the statistics and slammed GOP officials for seeming to rule Giuliani out before the campaigning has even begun.
“We’re going to take it to the GOP leadership. They should have given Andrew a fair shake,” Sliwa told the paper. “Stop this nonsense of trying to anoint Lee Zeldin the nominee.”
In a statement to the Post, the younger Giuliani thanked Sliwa for his support, and added he is thrilled to work with him.
“I’m very excited for Curtis being on board. It will be entertaining to campaign with him whether people like it or not,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Zeldin’s campaign seemed to dismiss Sliwa’s endorsement.
“The endorsements for Congressman Zeldin‘s candidacy for Governor have been pouring in from all corners of New York and all walks of life,” the spokesperson told the Post. “Hundreds of endorsements have come in from Members of Congress, State Senators, State Assemblymen, County Executives and others and these have included Republicans and Democrats.”
