very rarely do u hear of people gettin bit by coral snakes,....due to the fact that they are mostly nocturnal.
they also have very small fixed fang teeth....they'd have to chew on u for a while to deliver the venom.
he prolly got hit with a dry bite......cuz they have the same neurotoxin as cobras.

From what I got, he was by the beach and picked it up, and the first thing I questioned was whether it broke his skin. Apparently, it did, and he did get sick, but I guess his alcohol level fucked up the snake more than him.
