Debate was brought up in another forum, made me think a little bit... Who showed the best overall game, improvement, potential after their third season, D Rose or LeBron? I know LeBron has had 5 more season, but in a comparison at the end of their respective 3rd season, who is better?

My Thoughts:

"LeBron's physicality was best exemplified in the open court. In the half court sets, while he got to the rim at will sometimes, his lack of parameter game hurt him is first few years. The difference with D Rose is, his physicality is best shown in the half court sets.... His change of direction, ability to get to his place on the court while most of the time avoiding charges is what to me makes him different from LeBron. While LeBron was/is definitely a freight train, D Rose is more stealth with his, creating spots, causing a lot more help needed, which opens up his teammates a lot more. Plus, even though he does have an excellent supporting cast, for a great part of the season they were an incomplete team due to injuries, etc.

IMO, D Rose for what is needed for his team and what he brings, is a much more well rounded player than LeBron was in his 2-3rd seasons... LeBron was/is definitely a beast, but I believe D Rose has a much higher ceiling ahead of him by his 8th season..."

"DERRICK ROSE TURNS INTO MICHAEL JORDAN; NBA STARS SHINE IN DAY ONE OF THE NBA PLAYOFFS

They say superstars get you wins in the playoffs. On the first day of the second season, after watching Derrick Rose, Dirk Nowitzki, Dwight Howard and LeBron James take care of business, we agree. Sometimes basketball comes down to who has better chemistry, who's moving the ball and making the extra pass, or who's playing tougher defense. And then other times, it just comes down to the beast. Whichever team has the biggest beast will win.

In Chicago, Rose was so good, he had people thinking of another Bull who always closed out in playoffs ... "

I give the nod to LeBron...while D-Rose is doing great for his third season, he has a much better team at season three than LBJ did. Imagine what LeBron could do if he had at least two of those players on Cleveland that Rose currently has...

At the same token, this Chicago team is exclusively built for Derrick Rose and him alone...There was a small possibility that LeBron could have joined Chicago, but Rose wanted no part of that...

ROSE IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN LEBRON

derrick rose does 1 thing much better than lebron james.

most basketball fans don't know that the bulls are using some of the same sets on O that coach brown did in cleveland.

but the plays have had more success with derrick rose.

why?

because derrick rose reads and reacts to the defense more quickly than lebron james does.

i'll post more later tonight on why that is, and what the secret to containing derrick rose is; most coaching staffs have been unable to figure out derrick rose's decision making process with the ball in his hands.

so here's what i promised earlier.

the bulls put derrick rose up top in the middle of the floor, much like the cavaliers did with lebron james. this is done purposely, because it is more difficult to trap a player in the middle of the floor.

the difference is that lebron james waited until the D set so that he could read it and choose his reaction.

derrick rose on the other hand, only reads his primary defender. if the defender rushes to close out, derrick rose uses the defender's momentum against him, and blows by him easily.

if the defender opts to guard him by providing cushion, derrick rose chooses the uncontested jumper.

this forces the opposing team to pick their poison on D: the penetration v. the jump shot.

100% of the time, the opponent should pick the lower percentage jump shot. if they opt for the aggressive close out, they give up:

a) lay ups that are higher percentage shots
b) putting their frontcourt defenders at risk for fouls
c) allowing other bulls players the chance to become involved

Yeah. That is pretty much what I see Cran. I agree.... you have nothing to gain by rushing to close out with Rose..because once he gets into the lane, there isn´t a better finisher in the game right now. Even though he has improved his range, make him hit jump shots.

Scary that this dude really doesnt even know how to play his position that well.
