It’s the Racism, Stupid

The GOP establishment can’t freak out about Trump now.
It’s been playing his game for decades, just more artfully.

by Gary Younge | February 12, 2016 | http://www.thenation.com/article/its-the-racism-stupid

Three years ago, as the Republican-led House of Representatives engineered a brief government shutdown, Congressman Marlin Stutzman (R-IN) explained the strategy underpinning the protest. “We have to get something out of this,” he said. “And I don’t know what that even is.” The shutdown wasn’t a tactic so much as a tantrum, an act of collective petulance posing as politics — inexplicable to the outside world, incoherent in its aims and incandescent in its rage.

The bizarre circus that the GOP presidential primary has become is not a freak occurrence. Regardless of the eventual nominee, the rise of Donald Trump (“I would bomb the shit out of [ISIS]”), the ascent of Ted Cruz (“To God be the glory”) and the endurance of Ben Carson (“Putin is a one-horse country: oil and energy”) do not contradict the general trajectory of the party, but rather confirm it. This fact-free, bigoted populism awash in money and drowning in misanthropy may illustrate the GOP at its most brazen, but it’s hardly in any way aberrant.

In this regard, Trump is the party’s most obvious emissary. His blatant xenophobia emerges from the GOP’s half-century of race-baiting since Richard Nixon’s Southern strategy was first conceived. The initial idea was to woo Southern whites, who were angry about the advances of the civil-rights movement, with coded racial messaging that wouldn’t alienate the party’s Northern supporters.

“You have to face the fact that the whole problem is really the blacks,” Nixon once explained to his chief of staff, H.R. Haldeman. “The key is to devise a system that recognizes that while not appearing to.” This method was once very effective. Ronald Reagan launched his 1980 campaign at the Neshoba County Fair in Mississippi, not far from where three civil-rights activists had been murdered in 1964, by talking about states’ rights.

George H.W. Bush had his infamous Willie Horton ad in 1988,
while BuShit Jr. spoke at Bob Jones University in 2000, where interracial dating was banned at the time.

But with white people heading toward minority status and becoming a lower percentage of the voting public every cycle, the message necessarily gets cruder — particularly with the presence of a black president. In the 2012 GOP primaries, former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorum told a crowd in Iowa that “I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money,” while Newt Gingrich branded Obama the “food-stamp president.”

So by the time Trump came on the scene, the party had done away with the dog whistle in favor of a police whistle — no codes necessary. The Mexicans are sending us “rapists”; the Chinese are “cheating”; America needs “a total and complete shutdown” on Muslims coming into the country.

Elements of the Republican establishment bristled, of course. Back in 2012, Senator Lindsey Graham was already warning that when it came to “the demographics race,” the GOP was “losing badly. We’re not generating enough angry white guys to stay in business for the long term.”

racist_GOP500_1.jpg

But that was the business they were in: For a generation, the party had galvanized its base on precisely this kind of message, only more artfully put and more plausibly denied. So when Trump rails against political correctness — which always goes down well on the stump — he’s really just calling for a return to unbridled hate speech. No wonder he comes first in a crowded pack for those Republican voters who want a candidate who “tells it like it is.”

Trump’s rallies are also unburdened by either actual policies or tangible facts. He just says stuff — whatever comes into his head, it seems — and people cheer or laugh, but rarely call him on it. Whether it’s true or consistent really doesn’t matter. The fact that Trump was previously pro-choice and pro-single-payer, or that he’s donated money to Hillary Clinton’s senatorial campaigns and had the Clintons at his wedding, is shrugged off. Nobody cares that there’s a net flow of Mexicans leaving America: “We’re gonna build a big wall,” Trump says. “It’s gonna be a beautiful wall. It’s gonna be a great big beautiful wall.” His healthcare policy? He’s going to replace Obamacare with something “super-terrific.”

Any mystery as to why this is working vanishes once one realizes that he’s talking to the Republican base, 43 percent of whom still believe that Obama is a Muslim — roughly the same percentage who believe that he was born in America.

This is the same party that swift-boated John Kerry and insisted that the Clintons were bumping people off and running drugs into Arkansas. They really don’t care about the facts.

Nor did Trump invent this trend. In 2011, GOP primary contender Herman Cain proudly announced that he did not know the name of the president of “Ubeki-beki-beki-beki-stan-stan.” More than one in four Republicans in Mississippi, and one in five in Alabama, believed that interracial marriage should be illegal, while closer to two-thirds in both states didn’t believe in evolution. Trump is just the most ostentatious and successful manifestation of this trend, and the Republican hierarchy is stumped on what to do about it.

In 2008, Senator John McCain, the GOP nominee, memorably took the mic from campaign volunteer Gayle Quinnell, who said she couldn’t trust Obama because “he’s an Arab.” “No, ma’am,” McCain said. “He’s a decent family man, a citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues.”

Yet without millions of people like Quinnell, McCain would have suffered not just a defeat but a rout. Now the GOP’s leaders have ceded the mic once again, and they’re struggling to seize it back.

Of course, the Republican establishment never openly embraced such statements. Nonetheless, it was this mixture of racially charged messaging and a tacit acceptance of falsehoods that underpinned the Tea Party’s rise. This is the wave of sewage that the GOP surfed all the way to majorities in both houses of Congress. Now they’re up to their necks in it...............................the end

As former President of the U.S. Jimmy Carter has stated just a few months ago, — he said that the United States is:

"Just An Oligarchy With Unlimited Political Bribery"

Speaking about the SCOTUS 2010 Citizens United decision and 2014 McCutcheon decision and their impact on the United States of America's, One Man, One Woman = ONE VOTE application of U.S. Democracy, President Carter correctly and unambiguously said:

""It violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it’s just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for President or being elected President. And the same thing applies to governors, and U.S. Senators and congress members. So, now we’ve just seen a subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors, who want and expect, and sometimes get, favors for themselves after the election is over...At the present time the incumbents, Democrats and Republicans, look upon this unlimited money as a great benefit to themselves. Somebody that is already in Congress has a great deal more to sell.""

In other words the United States of America is a:
PORNOCRACY

Read more HERE

This PORNOCRACY is not hidden, it is operating in public view right before our eyes. You could not say 'Out-Of-Sight-Out-Of-Mind', in fact the Koch brothers have told the world that they will spend $900,000,000 ($900 million) in bribes toward their goal of corporate fascism. Just as in medieval days, like harem concubines auditioning for the sexual attentions and favors of the sultan that owns their bodies, we see RepubliKlan presidential candidates prostrating themselves before the Koch brothers and 450 other $$$$$$$$$$$$$ .01 percent consiglieres, all of them willing and hoping to sell their ass and possibly become the chosen whore who could be POTUS.

Given the irrefutable, unimpeachable truth uttered by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter — How???? should the 99% of eligible American voters who contributed NO money, or less than $200 dollars to political campaigns in a year react to the takeover of the American political & economic system by the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ .01 percent consiglieres — 'One hand washes the other, and together they wash the face'

The answer to the question above is multi-faceted. Many Americans have decided that the answer to the imposition of CORPORATISM is to withdraw from the political economy by NOT voting at all. In the most recent mayoral elections in America's largest cities voter turnout reached all time lows; only 26% in New York City and an amazingly low 23% in Los Angeles.

The corporate television “media-of-mass-distraction” controlled by six white men has successfully conned their somnolent viewers into believing that their vote is meaningless since these viewers have been successfully propagandized into concluding that their is NO difference between politicians regardless of their party affiliation or political ideology.

The American sheeple are more concerned with the ever expanding ass of Kim Kardashian or why Ben Afleck is fucking his childrens nanny, than they are concerned about the RepubliKlan controlled congress voting to remove ingredient and country of origin labels from the meat sold in American supermarkets or that same RepubliKlan carcass voting that it is perfectly legal to dump toxic coal ash that will kill humans into America's rivers and lakes.

In this 2016 election cycle more .01% percent bribery money will be spent than in any other election cycle. Jeb BuShit and Billary Clinton have so far collected the most "shot-callers" cash. The leading Bankster firm Goldman Sachs has placed their $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ bribes on Billary & BuShit; either one works for them and will protect the firms modern 'black box' money changers alchemy franchise.

Again, How???? should the 99% of eligible American voters who contributed NO money, or less than $200 dollars to political campaigns in a year react to the takeover of the American political & economic system by the $$$$$$$$$$$$$ .01 percent consiglieres.

The nightmare of the 'shot-callers' would be a massive voter turnout, this is why they so ardently engage in voter suppression tactics. The lower the voter turnout the easier it is to control the outcome .

Donald Trump: A step closer

The New York billionaire real-estate developer and reality-TV star is a step closer to, as he puts it, "running the table" [towards the Republican nomination]. Trump has two wins — in South Carolina and New Hampshireand a second in Iowa in the first three races. He will need to keep his cool, however, as attacks intensify, aiming to slow his populist campaign. Trump also must learn to govern his mouth — no more potty language, easily misunderstood quips or George W. Bush-lied comments.

White supremacist groups see Trump bump
'He has sparked an insurgency,' Stormfront founder says.

90

The Ku Klux Klan is using Donald Trump as a talking point in its outreach efforts.

Stormfront, the most prominent American white supremacist website, is upgrading its servers in part to cope with a Trump traffic spike.

And former Louisiana Rep. David Duke reports that the businessman has given more Americans cover to speak out loud about white nationalism than at any time since his own political campaigns in the 1990s.

As hate group monitors at the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League warn that Trump’s rhetoric is conducive to anti-Muslim violence, white nationalist leaders are capitalizing on his candidacy to invigorate and expand their movement.

“Demoralization has been the biggest enemy and Trump is changing all that,” said Stormfront founder Don Black, who reports additional listeners and call volume to his phone-in radio show, in addition to the site’s traffic bump. Black predicts that the white nationalist forces set in motion by Trump will be a legacy that outlives the businessman’s political career. “He’s certainly creating a movement that will continue independently of him even if he does fold at some point.”

According to experts at the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center who monitor hate groups and anti-Muslim sentiment, Trump’s call on Monday to halt the entrance of Muslims to the United States is driving online chatter among white supremacists and is likely to inspire violence against Muslims.

“When well-known public figures make these kind of statements in the public square, they are taken as a permission-giving by criminal elements who go out and act on their words.” said Mark Potok of the SPLC. “Is it energizing the groups? Yeah. They’re thrilled.”

Marilyn Mayo, co-director of the ADL’s Center on Extremism, said Trump’s proposal this week to halt the entrance of Muslims into the United States is only the latest statement to inject vigor into the racist fringe of American politics. “Since the beginning of Donald Trump’s candidacy, we’ve definitely seen that a segment of the white supremacist movement, from racist intellectuals to neo-Nazis have been energized,” she said

A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign did not respond to requests for comment.

His rhetoric on minority groups has been condemned as racist by political observers on both the left and right and by the protesters who regularly interrupt his rallies. In his announcement speech in June, Trump said of undocumented Mexican immigrants, “They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” After terror attacks killed 130 in Paris last month, he entertained the creation of a national database of all Muslims. On Monday, after Muslim extremists shot 14 dead in California earlier this month, Trump called for a halt on the entrance of Muslims into the United States.

The white racist fringe of American politics is a fragmented one, where attitudes toward Trump range from full-fledged embrace to cautious optimism to skepticism.

Black of Stormfront said Trump's rhetoric has been a boon to white nationalists. “He has sparked an insurgency and I don’t think it’s going to go away,” he told POLITICO of Trump.

Black, who said his site receives a million unique visitors a month, said Trump has helped drive a steady increase in traffic in recent months – including 30-40 percent spikes when the businessman makes news on immigration or Muslims – that is compelling him to upgrade his servers.

Rachel Pendergraft, a spokeswoman for the Arkansas-based Knights Party, which considers itself the national standard-bearer for the KKK, said the group encourages its members to engage with their communities through apolitical volunteer work and, at the right moment, steer conversation toward race and “white genocide.”

Trump, she said, has offered
KKK members a prime opportunity to feel out potential recruits on their racial attitudes. “Right now he is a major talking point. He is in the news a lot.”

Duke, a former grand wizard of the KKK and perhaps the most notorious racist intellectual in the United States, said Trump, a successful businessman and the subject of nonstop media coverage, has given Americans license to more openly voice their racial animus.

“He’s made it ok to talk about these incredible concerns of European Americans today, because I think European Americans know they are the only group that can’t defend their own essential interests and their point of view,” Duke said. “He’s meant a lot for the human rights of European Americans.”

Even those white supremacists who remain unconvinced that Trump is one of them welcome his entrance to the political arena. “As long as he’s causing chaos

Former Ku Klux Klan leader declares support for Donald Trump

David Duke, a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard, . . . called for listeners of his radio show to support Trump and volunteer for his campaign.

“Go in there, you’re gonna meet people who are going to have the same kind of mindset that you have,” Duke said Wednesday on the David Duke Radio Program, as first reported by Buzzfeed.

Duke reasoned that “voting against Donald Trump at this point is really treason to your heritage.”

“I’m not saying I endorse everything about Trump, in fact I haven’t formally endorsed him," Duke continued.

"But I do support his candidacy, and I support voting for him as a strategic action. I hope he does everything we hope he will do.”

Duke’s comments came the same day that a white nationalist super PAC announced it made calls to every consumer landline in Vermont in support of Trump. The group also supported Trump in Iowa.

A national survey last month found nearly 20% of Trump’s supporters disagreed with the Emancipation Proclamation, which freed Southern slaves during the Civil War, The New York Times reported this week.

The elections in the U.S. looks rigged to exclude a viable black or Latino candidates from reaching the general election. A viable black or latino candidates needs to be on the Democratic ticket. By stacking and funding all the 'diversity' on the Republican side where they will have nil chance to be nominated by a right wing that includes David Duke. You will look at the TV and think it is still all good when things are fucked badly.

Whether Trump is backed by the KKK is irrelevant when you consider this fact.

1927 news report: Donald Trump's dad arrested in KKK brawl with cops

trumpsr1.jpg

According to a New York Times article published in June 1927, a man with the name and address of Donald Trump's father was arraigned after Klan members attacked cops in Queens, N.Y.

In an article subtitled "Klan assails policeman", Fred Trump is named in among those taken in during a late May "battle" in which "1,000 Klansmen and 100 policemen staged a free-for-all." At least two officers were hurt during the event, after which the Klan's activities were denounced by the city's Police Commissioner, Joseph A. Warren.

“The Klan not only wore gowns, but had hoods over their faces almost completely hiding their identity,” Warren was quoted as saying in the article, which goes on to identify seven men “arrested in the near-riot of the parade.”

Named alongside Trump are John E Kapp and John Marcy (charged with felonious assault in the attack on Patrolman William O'Neill and Sgt. William Lockyear), Fred Lyons, Thomas Caroll, Thomas Erwin, and Harry J Free. They were arraigned in Jamaica, N.Y. All seven were represented by the same lawyers, according to the article.

The final entry on the list reads: “Fred Trump of 175-24 Devonshire Road, Jamaica, was discharged.”

In 1927, Donald Trump's father would have been 21 years old, and not yet a well-known figure. Multiple sources report his residence at the time—and throughout his life—at the same address.

To be clear, this is not proof that Trump senior—who would later go on to become a millionaire real estate developer—was a member of the Ku Klux Klan or even in attendance at the event. Despite sharing lawyers with the other men, it's conceivable that he may have been an innocent bystander, falsely named, or otherwise the victim of mistaken identity during or following a chaotic event.

The name of Trump's grandfather, Friedrich Drumpf, was anglicized to Frederick Trump, but he died several years before the report.

A person answering calls at the N.Y.C. Police Department's Records Section said that arrest reports dating that far back were not available in any form. We've sent a formal request in writing and will update if and when we receive a response. We've also left a message with the Trump Campaign requesting a callback.

The article, published on June 1, 1927, describes police frustration at rowdy parades, the Klan's use of masks, and its growing presence in New York City. The Klan, originally founded in the 19th century, was reborn in 1915 as a violent supremacist organization associated with lynchings, white nationalism, and the distinctive white robes and hoods used by Klansmen to conceal their identity at parades and other events. At its mid-1920s peak, it had up to 6m members, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Fred Trump, who died in 1999, was a New York real estate developer and the father of mogul and presidential candidate Donald Trump. Born in the Bronx to German immigrants, Fred became a real estate developer in his teens; at about the time of his apparent arrest, he was constructing single-family houses in Queens, according to his obituary in the Times. At his death, his net worth was estimated at between $250m and $300m. A savvy businessman and real estate developer, his wealth enabled the junior Trump to start big.

If the man arrested at the riotous Klan parade was indeed Donald's father, it would not be his last tangle with the law over issues concerning minorities. A 1979 article, published by Village Voice, reported on a civil rights suit that alleged that the Trumps refused to rent to black home-seekers, and quotes a rental agent who said Fred Trump instructed him not to rent to blacks and to encourage existing black tenants to leave. The case was settled in a 1975 consent degree described as "one of the most far-reaching ever negotiated," but the Justice Department subsequently complained that continuing "racially discriminatory conduct by Trump agents has occurred with such frequency that it has created a substantial impediment to the full enjoyment of equal opportunity."

Donald Trump has made nativism a pillar of his campaign, describing Mexican immigrants as rapists and two Boston men who beat a homeless immigrant as "passionate" fans.

The events described in the Times' article took place 22 years before Donald Trump was even born, and he’s not responsible for any youthful sins his father may have committed. But given the racially-charged tone of the younger Trump's campaign, it raises questions about the values he was taught by the man whose fortune he inherited.
