The family of an Alabama woman killed by her husband in the hospital after she gave birth is raising money to support her newborn daughter.
Precious Johnson, 24, was fatally shot by her husband, Kynath William Terry Jr., 19, who then turned turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide, according to WVTM, WBRC, and AL.com.
The Homewood, Ala., Police Department said the shooting occurred at the Women’s Center of Brookwood Hospital on March 1.
Officers who responded to the hospital found that a woman, a patient at the hospital, and a man had both died from gunshot wounds.
WVTM, citing a coroner's report, reported that Johnson, who was shot multiple times, had just had a baby.
Johnson's family has since started a GoFundMe to raise money for her newborn daughter, Alaia.
"What should have been a place of care and safety became the place where our family’s world was forever changed," the organizer wrote.

Johnson's family is also seeking to raise money for her funeral arrangements.
"We want Alaia to grow up knowing that her mother was loved and that people from everywhere came together to support her during the darkest time in our lives," the organizer wrote.
