I remember watching a piece of a documentary from UK that was curated by a black man with a UK accent and him mentioning how the Europeans were amazed that the people of Benin knew how to caste, then showing the stolen statues from Benin in their UK museum.

I was like them birds was only amazed cause they thought they invented everything.

I was in Cairo last year and was shocked to find out that many Egyptian artifacts were in the British Museum in London. I asked our curator/tour guide, who was a smart Arab fella, just why those important artifacts are in London and not Cairo, and he flat out with a straight face said, “white people, that’s why.”

I tipped that man $40 off that statement alone.

Fucking CAC’s.

Finally coming home? They were returned last year. They're finally being displayed.

late last year and it was for the preservation of the artifacts that they were not displayed right away
due to the higher humidity in Benin, the artifacts went through a transition period before being exposed again

How was Cairo did you feel safe? It is on my bucket list but the fucking world is so crazy these days.....

100%. Didn’t feel shifty in any way shape or form so long as you follow the international rules. Don’t be loud, flashy, boisterous and respect the local culture at all times. Stay humble and you ain’t gon have no problems. And that goes for all of Egypt (Aswan, Luxor, Abu Simbel etc..) not just Cairo.

I’ll keep it a buck .. I feel much safer OUTSIDE the US than in it.

bro, real talk... I've traveled in more countries than I can remember... for work, studies, holiday, whore mongering, etc...
the country I felt the least safe was in the States
I felt safer late night in Rocinha or deep in the jungle in freakin' Borneo than in the hood in Philly
