“Ghost tapping” on the rise as mobile wallets gain popularity

An urgent warning for shoppers heading into the holiday season: scammers have found a way to steal your money even if you don’t swipe your card. Tap-to-pay has become a popular way for quick and convenient checkouts, but the Better Business Bureau is warning shoppers to slow down and avoid a threat called “ghost tapping.”

How to protect your debit, credit cards from ghost tapping​

This modern day version of pickpocketing can steal your money in seconds without the scammer ever interacting with you. NBC10 Responds reporter Valeria Aponte-Feliciano has more on how it works and ways to protect yourself.

I don't even carry any cards on me..... I only use Google pay from my phone at drive-thrus, they hold the reader out the drive-thru window and at the supermarket, where the person nearest me is at least a shopping cart away...... anyone closer like in front of their cart I ask them nicely to respect my space and to please back up a little...... for the nasty ones I tell them for safety reasons I had the steps going up my back removed then tell them the line isn't gonna move faster if they stand on top of me and they'll be waiting longer if I find multiple was of slowing down the line..... that usually works for them

I guess I'm fuked up because I still only prefer to use cash... I hate automated bullshix now. Everything is gearing towards " making" the consumer do the will of a machine...
