An unprecedented prostitution bust called “Operation Good Time” brought a bad time to 54 suspects arrested in South Carolina on a wide array of charges in the past week.

In a two-day sting, Simpsonville police arrested 28 suspected prostitutes and 26 men accused of soliciting them, police announced Friday. Authorities said it is likely the largest prostitution crackdown in the city’s history.

Operatives used social media to track prostitutes or people advertising them for sex, police said.

“Many individuals responded and met undercover officers working as Johns and/or prostitutes,” Simpsonville Police Chief Keith Grounsell told Greenville Online.

“The people arrested did solicit and/or complete a financial transaction to sell or purchase sex in exchange for money.”

The sting led to 64 charges against the suspects, including charges for prostitution and drugs and at least one weapons charge. Police said at least one firearm was seized during the operation, as well as $2,010 cash.

Eight of the suspects also had outstanding arrest warrants, for charges including probation violation and failure to pay child support, police said.
