Yeah part of me thinks the promotion will do them good but too many eyes on it now.

I sympathize and wish them queens well.
When I was in grad school I bought a permit to park at a staff-faculty lot and got multiple tickets, all from parking enforcement being too aggressive. The parking office would always take care of it, but it was a hassle going in there, waiting in line, etc. And they don't do refunds, if you pay it's an admission of guilt.
Eventually I ended up having 2 unpaid tickets in the system, no more than a week or two old, and getting a third over some bull, I think I had changed my license plate or something. Got a boot and I was pissed. Went to the office the next day, took hours to straighten out but they finally did. I came back to the lot and my car was gone, towed.
They would not pay for the release. Even though I shouldn't have had a ticket, I had to take the bus to the tow yard and bail my car out for like $150. Shit was a scam, free them cars.
