Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has transformed into John Creasy, the main character in the upcoming Netflix series Man on Fire, revealed in a first-look photo (below) released on Tuesday.
The eight-episode streaming drama is an adaptation based on A.J. Quinnell’s Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill, the first two books in Quinnell’s five-book series.
Man on Fire tells the story of John Creasy, a high-functioning and skilled Special Forces Mercenary, known for surviving even the most desolate of situations. When viewers meet Creasy, he is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. Watched the first 3 episodes of of The Madison thus far. It's a slower pace and heavy-handed like lots of other work from Taylor Sheridan, but a great performance from Michelle Pfeiffer. Happy to see her again as I last watched her years back in 2017's Murder on the Orient Express. The remainder of the cast is primarily her family of asshole city slickers, but she's doing a great job in her role. It's only a 6-episode season, so the remaining eps will be released on March 21st. It's been renewed for a 2nd season.
Finished season 2 of Hijack last week, but unfortunately it wasn't as strong as season 1. The setting / environment just wasn't as appealing being darkly-lit / subway for the most part. Less overall characters too compared to season 1 which was airplane-based. Looking back I would have preferred just another plane-based season, to be honest.
Started Rooster in the past week. Definitely enjoyable, and better than I expected. Very amusing at times, and Bill Lawrence is on a role in recent years with Ted Lasso, Bad Monkey, Shrinking, and more. Viewers will recognize the likes of Carell, Deadwyler, McGinley, Dunster, etc.
