Gasol isn't effective when dudes his size play physical.

He doesn't have the strength to get his in the post. He's shooting a jumper or getting the ball right by the rim, where he's excellent at finishing. But the zone collapses on him and he's in trouble.
Bynum is much better in this regard. But Dallas is sticking with the zone and right now that kills the triangle, when you're outside shot isn't falling.

if you and dirk ran the pick and roll on the lakers, you'd be open in the lane too
all dallas needed was a shooter to hit some shots so they couldn't pack the lane and not guard the 3

they just can't guard the pick and roll.
they couldn't do it last series but paul was by himself out there basically.
now dallas actually has more players and some height to match up with them...and the lakers have the same exact pick and roll problem

they're not hitting the 3's but honestly dallas has 3 7 footers to match up and get rebounds so the height advantage they usually have doesn't do anything
also the marquee player that ron artest would usually be assigned to or even kobe..they can't guard him. nobody on the lakers can guard him. odom is too little he'll bully him and gasol and bynum have no chance to run with him if he decides to face up and go to the cup. plus he has the fade away down... its just a bad matchup
series is far from over but those problems aren't gonna get solved over night
only thing they definitely need to work on during this little vacation is the pick and roll and how they play them and when and when not to switch
