MERGED - iPhone

That's a bookmark to a website...a website that sucks on the iPhone btw.

Google designed the site and bookmark icon. I like the design. I used to the the GV app, but found the Google web app works just as good and its faster. If you don't like it, write to Google and suggest some changes.

Re: MERGED - IPhone 4

coulda sworn deutrion was on divine side.

There shouldn't be sides, you shouldn't have that much brand loyalty, that makes you a sheep.

But this is what happens when you see other products and become more knowledgeable. You'll learn there is no perfect phone. It's a shock to some peoples systems however. Seems like it's like learning there is no Santa Claus.

There's things the iPhone does better, and there's things Android does better. Apple customers seem happy to be spoon fed updates however. It's like come on, you're like wooo hooo we're getting shit phones were doing a year or two ago, that's why we're like big deal. Android customers seem different.

To say something is easier to use and simpler, but then it's notification system is ass backwards and to excuse it is :smh: Just say yeah, it could be better.

Re: MERGED - IPhone 4

compare droid to droid x though.

huge upgrade.

Little bit faster, bigger screen, memory and megapixels. evolutionary and pretty much expected. It's basically the same as the 3gs was a year ago. Before I'm attacked, I'm not waying the 4 is a huge upgrade either. I'm just calling it what it is.

Apple Announces iPhone 4 Sales of 1.7 Million, Most Successful Product Launch Ever
Monday June 28, 2010 08:42 AM EST; Category: iPhone
Written by Eric Slivka

Apple today announced sales of over 1.7 million iPhone 4s through Saturday, covering just the first three days of sales.
Apple today announced that it has sold over 1.7 million of its iPhone 4 through Saturday, June 26, just three days after its launch on June 24. The new iPhone 4 features FaceTime, which makes video calling as easy as one tap, and Apple's new Retina display, the highest resolution display ever built into a phone, resulting in stunning text, images and video.

"This is the most successful product launch in Apple's history," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply."

Saturday marked the end of Apple's third fiscal quarter (and second calendar quarter), and thus sales from Sunday forward will be included in Apple's next fiscal quarter, due to end in late September.

Apple continues to note that iPhone 4 will move beyond the initial launch countries of the United States, UK, France, Germany, and Japan into an additional 18 countries by the end of July: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

How come Sprint refuses to say how many iPhone killers (EVO 4G) they have sold?

Just had my IPHONE 4 delivered to my door step. I'm not even powering this mug up until I get a case! Nevertheless, I'm :dance::dance:

if that is the case you are going to be waiting a long time to power it up them. Otterbox and incase haven't dropped their cases for the iphone 4 yet and those are the only two companies i would choose in cases.

my mom picked up some crappy case from glove or some company from the att store. it doesnt look very protective

iSuppli: iPhone 4 components cost $188
from Boy Genius Report by Andrew Munchbach

Bloomberg Businessweek writes that Apple’s 16 GB iPhone 4, which retails for $599 off-contract or $199 on-contract, costs approximately $188 to manufacture. The report comes as a result of an iSuppli teardown that analyzed the inner workings of the new mobile device. The most expensive part is — unsurprisingly — the Retina display, which iSuppli estimates at $28.50 at wholesale. Apple’s A4 processor, which is manufactured by Samsung, purportedly carries a price tag of $10.75. Both Apple and Samsung declined comment when contacted by Bloomberg BW. The $188 estimate is in line with previous iterations of the iPhone which typically have cost between $175 and $190 to manufacture.

UDPATE: Changed article title from “iSuppli: iPhone 4 costs $188 to manufacture” to “iSuppli: iPhone 4 components cost $188.” The $188 figure does not include labor and other miscellaneous costs that would be included in manufacturing; it is for the components only.

Found Footage: Synergy on iOS

Are you familiar with Synergy? It's an app that lets you share your keyboard and mouse between many computers -- and we at TUAW have been fans of the app for a very long time. We were delighted to learn over the weekend that Matthias Ringwald, otherwise known as the "King of BTstack," has built a BTstack Synergy Client. It works with Synergy to accept remote events and synthesize them on your jailbroken iPad or iPhone.

As this preliminary footage shows, you can use your Mac-based mouse to tap on your iOS screen. Keyboard support is not yet available; Ringwald says he intends to add that. When complete, this is going to be an absolutely brilliant tool for debugging.

As an aside, Nick Bolton started a Synergy+ branch of Synergy last year. The plus branch provides a Synergy maintenance fork, implementing a variety of bug fixes. The original Synergy has not had source updates or releases since 2006, according to Bolton's write-up. Synergy+ implements "many significant bug fixes such as support for Windows services on Vista and Windows 7, and a brand new GUI (based on QSynergy)."

Re: Short film shot with iphone 4

nice, I'll be directing porn on one in NO time

nah, but that was straight

Re: Short film shot with iphone 4

That is quite ridiculous.... how the fuck did they get the sound so clean?

Visuals are stunning considering this was captured on a phone.

I still do not have a shipping confirmation on mine, ordered June 20th :smh:

I believe my wife ordered it the morning of the first day they were available. I had confirmed delivery for July 2nd, but they charged my account on the 24th, so I knew it was probably going to come at least a day or so early. Having it delivered this morning was a pleasant surprise though.

Class Action suit against Apple for i4 problems in the works...

There is evidence other phones may have had problems when gripped a certain way. But none generated the number of public complaints or level of controversy associated with the iPhone 4. So when Steve Jobs personally suggests to users to "avoid holding it in that way," he's handing the likes of KCR some valuable legal ammunition.

it'd be hilarious if Apple loses or settles and has to recall all the i4's...we'll see if this case progresses...

Re: Class Action suit against Apple for i4 problems in the works...

Judge: Were you allowed to return the phone?
Plaintiff: Yes your honor.
Judge: Why didn't you?
Plaintiff: We'd rather sue.
Judge: Case dismissed.

if apple purposely put out a defective product then returning means nothing. They sought to deceive the users.

Re: Class Action suit against Apple for i4 problems in the works...

As long as you have a method of redress available, if you don't take it it's your fault.

Re: Class Action suit against Apple for i4 problems in the works...

Class action lawsuits take time to develop, average 2-5 years.

It is just like with the original iPod that had battery issues. Apple had a class action lawsuit against them, and the final outcome was Apple Sore credit I believe.

http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/apples-ipod-battery-settlement-explained/

There are grounds for a lawsuit here especially if Apple knowingly released a defective product which it seems they did.

Apple was so quick to push the bumpers for the iPhone. They have never done that before. Steve Job's responses will not help either.

The main function of the device is to act as a phone, and in some reported cases, it is not doing that due to signal drops when held a certain way, allegedly.

If a lawsuit goes forward, worst case settlement will be a free bumper for everyone $29.

in a country where someone won against mcdonalds for coffee being too hot and a fat woman beat some fast food spot for getting her fat...lawsuits like these happen...will they progress? who knows, but they can file and see what happens, free country...

i agree with this, this will kill them more than a lawsuit if everyone returned it
