Sources: Hickson, Ilgauskas to Suns

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4913305

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns are closing in on a deal that would send All-Star forward Amare Stoudemire to Cleveland, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.

The Cavaliers would send Zydrunas Ilgauskas and J.J. Hickson to Phoenix in exchange for Stoudemire, one of the league's most dominant big men.

While Cleveland remains in talks with several other teams, the club, from management down to the players, has settled on Stoudemire as its first choice.

The ball is in Phoenix's court. The Suns are mulling whether the financial relief provided by Ilgauskas' $12 million contract and the young and talented Hickson are enough for them to part with Stoudemire.

Cleveland believes the addition of Stoudemire would all but seal LeBron James' re-signing with the team when he becomes a free agent this summer. The Cavaliers are also prepared to sign Stoudemire, who has one year and $17 million remaining on his contract, to a long-term contract extension once the season ends.

The Suns would likely waive Ilgauskas, a move that would allow him to be re-signed by Cleveland after 30 days.

Cleveland is also talking with Washington about acquiring Antawn Jamison, as well as Indiana about Troy Murphy. Meanwhile, Golden State is trying to entice the Cavs into taking Corey Maggette for Ilgauskas.

This takes a lot of offensive pressure off of Lebron is this happens. If this deal is done, all the talk about Lebron leaving Cleveland can end.

Basically Hickson for Amare. It gives Cleveland a big starting lineup, and a tough bench. It also means that when Shaq leaves Amare can replace him when big Z is out of the lineup.

Let's see how fast they can gel before the playoffs, though.

By the way, this would be the biggest robbery since Gasol went to L.A. Ferry should give the Phoenix execs a spot on the float during the championship parade in Cleveland.

The Suns are looking to rebuild. There is no way they will be a challenger in the west in the coming years if they don't.

BTW- This would be the biggest robbery since Gasol went to L.A. Ferry should sent the execs over in Phoenix championship rings.

Yeah.. but NOTHING compares to that Gasol shit.. the lakers got Gasol for 10 year round passes to Disney Land.

The suns are going to get raped on this deal...Send Amare to the Bobcats...I wonder if that Big Baby Deal still going to go down...

So this is what the deal will look like. Damn, and the Cavs will get Z back.............   Much like I thought.

The Cavs pull this off and they might not even drop a fucking game until they meet the Lakers in the playoffs.

If they can resign him and Lebron..............

Also this is worse that kwame for gasol btw
It's not like the Grizzlies got a center who averages 15 and 10, the money to acquire Zach Randolph and 2 first rounders for Pau, a player who didn't want to be in Memphis.

As for this trade, there is no way in hell if I'm the Suns, I'm making it without getting some picks too and there's no way I let Z go back to the Cavs

Orlando still matches up well with them. I'm not gonna sleep on the Magic just yet.

Stern my man.

Them Kobe puppets were only a vision to the future.

We will see Kobe lebron in the finals atleast 3 more times

Yeah, would be a good move for the Cavs...still I am not convinced they can beat the Lakers.

After all,at some point during a key moment...a guard will have to step up.

I can't tell if I sense a little sarcasm him or not but I think I do lol. That Lakers trade doesn't look as bad now since Marc Gasol has turned into a solid center in this league. I believe that nigga was a throw-in too. I don't think the Grizz even knew he was gonna be this good.

Orlando made the dumbest move in recent history by letting Hedu go. He was what made them a tough match up. The Cavs really don't have shit to worry about with them no more. Add Amare and now Dwight will pick up more fouls.

True. They actually they lost Pau but gained his brother Marc. (who is putting up decent numbers.)

This deal does not address the Cavs needs. Amare is overrated.

It really doesn't. The Cavs still don't have legit outside shooters. And still aren't a competition for the Lakers even with the deal done. Who's to say Amare will even be healthy for the playoffs.

Amare won't allow Dwight to pick up fouls because Amare is too soft. He doesn't go hard in the paint. He's gonna bail Dwight out by shooting mid range jumpshots. And I don't know about Hedo. I thought he was a solid piece but by no means did letting him go stop making the Magic a contender. Still got talent on the team and one of the most dominant big men in the league on offense and defense. Meanwhile, the Suns may get a dominant scorer if Amare is motivated but we do know one thing. Them niggas are going to be garbage defensively because Amare is terrible. I've never seen someone that big with that much athleticism be so damn sorry defensively.
