how about mario gully's ant 1-12 from image

There were 3 volumes of Ant. Vol 1 was 4 issues. Vol 2 was 11 issues. Vol 3 was 3 issues. Here's all of them.

The Ant comic was published by a small independent company Arcana Studio in March 2004. The creator and artist Mario Gully has stated that the concept of Ant was created while he was incarcerated in 1996 for attempted armed robbery[citation needed]. Gully says that one day he was looking through a barred cell window and a tiny ant crawled in from the outside. He later vowed to change his life and make something out of himself. He then created "ANT".

Vol. 1 (Arcana Studios)

"Days like these" Published by Arcana Studios, sold out in 9 days.[citation needed]The book later was on eBay demanding as much as one-hundred dollars for a good condition issue#1.[citation needed] There are 4 issues to the first volume and then Ant was moved to Image Comics.

Story

The original Arcana mini-series followed 8-year-old Hannah Washington, a lonely young girl continually tormented and bullied at school. Her father, apparently an accountant - and later on blue-collar employee - by profession, is made a suspect in an armed robbery and is taken into custody. To escape the harsh realities of her life, she writes in her diary stories of an alter-ego: an adult version of herself who is a superhero known as Ant.

Hannah appears to know more about the world than she ought to and often has the personality of an emotionally unstable young adult, and her new principal takes interest in her as a result.

She ends up unintentionally dropping her diary, and it is read and returned by her friend Stephen, who later on appears as "Gadget Man" in Ant's Cockroach battle, the events of which we are allowed to follow whenever Hannah's diary is read or written into.

Hannah's father was released from custody but eventually, his home gets raided as the authorities apparently have the evidence they need to put him away. Hannah is found foaming at the mouth, having a seizure on the floor.

The son of the man he allegedly killed pushes for the death penalty - which would normally be too severe a punishment, but due to his influence, his demands are met and Hannah's father is sentenced to death.

We then find Hannah's mother, Betty, working as a cabaret dancer of sorts, had left many years ago and she makes an unwelcome step back into Hannah's life, since Hannah's father requested her to. However, after reading her diary Betty comes to the conclusion that it was a mistake to leave.

Meanwhile, Ant is beaten by the cockroach and loses her exoskeleton. Stephen rescues her and gives her a can which recharges her blood-sugar and her exoskeleton grows back. She then defeats the Cockroach.

Hannah finally manages to obtain information using Ant to clear her father's name - it turns out that the murdered man's son, and Betty's rich lover, was the actual culprit; but he's shot dead by the police when he's about to kill Betty who's just discovered his guilt. Hannah's happiness at getting her parents together is short-lived though. When told by the policewoman Inez that it is impossible for Ant to have helped Hannah as she had said Ant was who she would be in the future, she blacks out, and eventually ends up awakening in a straitjacket confined possibly in a sanitarium somewhat into her middle teens. The news of her revival brings forth a visit from her mother, who is in bereavement when informing Hannah of her father's apparent demise. This piece of info shocks Hannah. She manages to escape, leaving behind one of the cans she used to regenerate her exoskeleton in her story, which leads on to the second volume.

Vol. 2 (Image Comics)

"Reality Bites" published by Image Comics, The new series featured some heavy hitters as Spawn and The Savage Dragon to appear as co-stars in Ant. The first 3 issues sold out and the momentum of the character and the popularity of the creator Mario Gully grew. Some pivotal moments happened in the book such as Ant losing her hand in a fight with the villain Coldburn. Vol. 2 has 11 issues.

Issue 8 became infamous for a scene where a stripper removes her underwear, exposing her buttcheeks. The creator later apologized for the scene.

Mario Gully later moved from the Independent pool of comics to go on and draw for Marvel Comics. He has drawn Marvel Illustrated: Treasure Island adapted by legendary writer Roy Thomas, Marvel Adventures Hulk, and Exiles to name a few.

Story

An adult Hannah Washington wakes up in a mental institution, where she's been told all her memories are the result of a coping mechanism described as a "juvenile power fantasy." But, little by little, her fantasies of her life as Ant become more and more real.

Vol. 3 (Big City Comics)

Ant: Unleashed is the third volume of the series, released in 2008 by Big City Comics. This run focuses on a more mature version of Ant. Six issues were scheduled but only the first three were published as of May 2008, later issues being cancelled without a resolution to the story.

You should hit the cons more often. I find PLENTY.

Especially the free cosplay cons in NYC.

The best part is when they are hardcore and know the storylines in and out and are still very grounded!

Who read Civil War? (Un)Fortunately for me I didn't get back into comics until early 2007 so I missed most of it. I'm sure somebody somewhere has all the titles and all the crossovers from the titles; but for the rest of you who really couldn't be bothered with a zillion other books that MIGHT HAVE something to do with the main event (*cough* Secret Invasion & Dark Reign *cough*) here are the seven main books that turned the World of Marvel on its ass and 3 years later it's still lying prone *smirk*

Bigups to jnrex for the covers & initial links and the Minuteman Scanning Crew. You too Megan :)

Civil War" is a 2006-2007 Marvel Comics crossover event storyline built around a self titled seven-issue limited series written by Mark Millar, and penciled by Steve McNiven and which ran through various other titles published by Marvel at the time. The storyline builds upon the events that developed in previous Marvel crossovers, particularly "Avengers Disassembled", "House of M", "Decimation", and Secret War.

The tagline for the series is "Whose Side Are You On?

The premise of "Civil War" involves the introduction of a Superhuman Registration Act in the United States. Similar acts have been used as literary devices in Watchmen, Uncanny X-Men, DC: The New Frontier, Powers and Astro City, though never on a scale such as permanently altering an entire pantheon of established pop culture icons. Mark Millar, writer for the story, has said:“ I opted instead for making the superhero dilemma something a little different. People thought they were dangerous, but they did not want a ban. What they wanted was superheroes paid by the federal government like cops and open to the same kind of scrutiny. It was the perfect solution and nobody, as far as I'm aware, has done this before.

The act requires any person in the United States with superhuman abilities to register with the federal government as a "human weapon of mass destruction", reveal his/her true identity to the authorities, and undergo proper training. Those who sign also have the option of working for S.H.I.E.L.D., earning a salary and benefits such as those earned by other American civil servants. Characters within the superhuman community in the Marvel Universe split into two groups: one advocating the registration as a responsible obligation, and the other opposing the law on the grounds that it violates civil liberties and the protection that secret identities provide. A number of villains have also chosen to take sides, some choosing to side with the registration, others against it. Luke Cage (previously the second Power Man), an African American, compared registration to slavery, and did so to Iron Man's face. Others compare the act to the norms under which the police and soldiers operate.

Wow, that bad. I heard that they were pretty good.

DC WWIII Review

A weak tie-in to 52 that focuses largely on Martian Manhunter, who is nowhere to be found in the original book. Beyond the Martian rethinking his view on humanity, this book really does nothing.

I have family that are DIE HARD DC FANS. They hated this book. Not only that but they hated the fact that a lot of the storylines in the book ended unresolved and forgotten in all of the major crossovers that came out after.

At the comic con, I found the TPB for this book for $1.00.

World War 3 or WWIII

A four-issue mini-series written by Keith Champagne (#1-2) and John Ostrander (#3-4) in 2007, and drawn by Pat Olliffe and Tom Derenick, with covers by Ethan Van Sciver. It tells the story of Black Adam's rage against humanity after his family was murdered, and he can only be stopped when the entire superhero community rallies together. The limited series was a tie into DC's weekly comic book series, 52, occurring on "Week 50" of the series, which takes place during the missing year following Infinite Crisis. Indeed, 52 was inititally conceived to explain many of the drastic changes that occurred in the DC Universe during that missing year; however, the series ultimately evolved in a different direction, focusing on its own cast of characters, and consequently, World War III was conceived to revisit the original intent of the series and explain the changes that occurred.

Synopsis

Five weeks before the main events of the series, Martian Manhunter tries to telepathically fight Black Adam following his near obliteration of Bialya, but is overwhelmed by his darkest memory and flees into space, from where he will observe the upcoming battle, which is narrated through his point of view.

During Week 50, Black Adam rampages all over the planet, killing many innocent citizens, leaving destruction and disease behind him. For example, the Leaning Tower of Pisa is destroyed and many in the city are slain.

Father Time unsuccessfully tries to stop him on American shores and his face is ripped off for his efforts (though he survives). In retaliation for the attack, Black Adam throws an aircarft carrier at New York City.

Firestorm is forced out of retirement, along with Firehawk. Combined, the two turn the ship into snow. Nightwing (hinted to be Jason Todd while in the role by his ruthlessness) battles a gang of looters; his dialogue hints he kills them; he is later seen with their money.

In the meantime, J'onn observes Supergirl return from the 31st century. Unstable from the time travel, she passes through J'onn. Her form stabilizes as she plunges to Earth.

Every hero then tries to do his/her best in their respective roles, with Harvey Dent defending Gotham from Killer Croc, the Doom Patrol trying to halt Black Adam's rampage in Pisa and Donna Troy taking over Wonder Woman's mantle. In Sub Diego the effects of the Geiss serum are wearing off, turning the population into air-breathers again, except for Aquagirl and a few others, who asks for the help of Aquaman. The latter confers with the sea-gods, Poseidon and Triton, asking for the power to save the Sub Diegoans. The gods, while denying any involvement with the aquatic humans' fate, grant Aquaman new powers, with a ritual meant to give him the power of the "dark gods" of Atlantis, involving his new aquatic hand and the bones of his severed former one. Aquaman succeeds in raising back a big portion of Sub Diego, saving his inhabitants, but he's transfigured in a monstrous, amnesiac and almost mad form, the Dweller in the Depths.

J'onn continues following Black Adam's trail, distracting his thoughts from the Justice Society, once again united to give aid to the suffering populace. He finds him battling the Teen Titans, asking vengeance for their supposed betrayal of Osiris. Over the course of two confrontations, he kills Young Frankenstein and Terra. This causes J'onn to come back to Earth, and alert Checkmate. Kate Spencer's cover as Manhunter is almost blown; still her pursuing of the greater good convinced J'onn to enact another step in his maturation: he goes to his former police district as John Jones, revealing himself to his former friends, and burning his former detective agency to the ground to prevent himself from ever assuming a disguise again.

Finally Black Adam is delayed in China by the Great Ten. At first, the assembled heroes can do nothing, as China has promised to fire its nuclear missiles if they cross the Great Wall of China. Finally, the Justice Society and the other superheroes are allowed to join in battle. J'onn himself shows up, fighting actively with Adam, and using his link with him to fill his mind with images from the destruction of Mars and from every death he has caused during World War III. Black Adam is halted for a few minutes, just the time needed for Captain Marvel to force a magic lightning bolt on him, turning Black Adam back to Teth-Adam and changing his magic word into an unknown one. This lightning also wounds J'onn, who nevertheless is able to awake in his One Year Later form, freed from the forced link with Adam's mind, but willing to rethink his whole life as a Martian being on Earth, and no more an alien being pretending to be as human as possible.

From their satellite base, the Monitors declare the end of "World War III", intended as the war of one man against the whole world, but they do express fear for an even darker event looming over Earth.
