UFC 107: Penn vs. Sanchez is an upcoming mixed martial arts event to be held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on December 12, 2009 in Memphis, Tennessee at the FedExForum.


I'm thinking:

SANCHEZ (if he fights like he did against Guida - damn!! One cannot discount Penn though ... and his training with Marv Marinovich has done wonders for his drive/focus/stamina)

MIR (too much experience for Kongo - as Mir has pointed out ... if it goes to the ground, watch out - he just has to be careful on his feet as Cheick has heavy hands)

FITCH (quite talented; not many can go 5 rounds with GSP like he did in 2008 - and he's always been a solid competitor)

FLORIAN/GUIDA (not quite sure; fan of both - I'm thinking Guida might pull off an upset - I've always appreciated his heart/stamina ... classic battles with Huerta/Sanchez/others)

BUENTELLO (heavy punching power; Struve's someone to watch for though - he's blessed with height/reach/youth & he's getting stronger by the fight - I'm saying Buentello though - he was a UFC champ years back)

I'm going with my boy Penn, one of my favorite fighters but I think Sanchez cardio and size may be a problem for BJ. Only thing with Bj if it goes to the ground and you make a mistake :smh:


I want Congo to bash Mir's face in the way Mirs been talking trash. But it aint gonna happen.

Yeah - Mir's got a bad habit of running his mouth. But if Kongo keeps it standing ... it should be interesting. If it goes to the ground ... watch out ... his ground game ain't there.

Yeah ... I really hope PENN/SANCHEZ battle it out. They're both so confident ... skilled ... always put on a show.

LOL @ the pics. Mir is a dickhead Kongo is so disgusted he can't even look at dude. I hope he isn't off his game though, that may be the motive behind some of Mir's comments.

Diego is always intense I can't wait for that one, it's gonna be interesting to see who controls the pace of that fight.

Mir worked on his takedown and Kongo worked on stuffing and ground defense....it's all about timing and i don't think Kongo's takedown defense is solid enough.

I'm going for Kongo, but Mir is really hungry.

the key to mir and kongo, i think is that mir has bulked up to fight brock, we'll see if the added size helps him, or if it took away from his speed, his weigh in of 264.5 is telling me he had to cut to make weight

During the COUNTDOWN TO UFC 107 show he talked shit about Kongo being one of the worst on the ground as far as the heavyweights go. Gave Cheick Kongo for his hand power and boxing, but said IF it goes to the ground ... Cheick is done (as Frank's always been known for his ground work). Mir did look good in December 2008 when he took out BIG NOG though. His boxing is much improved.

Yeah ... he's been hitting the weights hard again (trying to get bigger/bulkier as he needs it in the future if he'll match up for the 3rd fight against Brock at some point in 2010 or 2011, all pending on Lesnar's health/eventual return. He was lifting big on the COUNTDOWN show, and also noted he was just worried in recent years about bulking up too much as it takes away from speed/stamina (as evidenced by guys like Slice/Alexander and how tired they got during their 3 round fight last weekend). Bigger and bulkier fighters tire out more quickly ... due to the blood flow ... all the blood/oxygen usage with the heavy musculature, etc.

Mir also said he is a top of a food chain heavyweight and that Kongo is irrelevant in this sport and he is a nobody.

Penn better watch himself. Saying that Diego is nowhere near as crazy as him. Diego has Clay shook before the bell even rang. Most may not agree with me but Diego looks like what Pen was when he started off. A hungry fighter with the skill set to someday be the best.

I always knew it would come down to this fight. Once news came out that Diego was dropping, I knew that shit was a wrap. Back on TUF, he was fucking nuts but was light-years ahead of every other fighter.

Diego has heart, passion, and a bit of a manic in him. Just something in him that you are born with not taught.

BJ Penn will go down as one of the greatest champs but he overlooks some fights and I feel that he doesn't see Diego as much of a threat that he should. I could be wrong but just going by what he said at the pre-fight interview.

Diego has heart, passion, and a bit of a manic in him. Just something in him that you are born with not taught.

BJ Penn will go down as one of the greatest champs but he overlooks some fights and I feel that he doesn't see Diego as much of a threat that he should. I could be wrong but just going by what he said at the pre-fight interview.

Penn better take him serious cause If Diego is not a threat then no one is a threat a 155. The only other contender I see right now for BJ may be Grey Maynard, since he is a top notch wrestler with pretty good boxing. But that is a later date.

BJ by unamimous decision(I'm so fukkin excited for this fight...I gotta feeling it's gonna be LEGENDARY!)

Mir by submission in the 2nd round(I want Kongo to win just so Sherdog can implode but I don't see how he can...avg. takedown defense...takes ppl down on reflex*he used to wrestle when he was younger*...and Mir is decent enough on the feet to, at least, not get totally clowned. But Cheick is dangerous...he's gotta puncher's chance.

Guida vs. Kenny...I think Kenny's too well-rounded...he'll get a UD, IMO.
