NEVER knew about this practice, it is highlighted in Micheal Moore new film Capitalism: A Love Affair

It's referred to as Dead Peasants insurance.

The practice itself is basically companies taking out secret life insurance policies on their low-level employees, with the benefits paid out to the company upon the employee's death (life insurance money goes straight to company, not the family), even if they no longer work at the company.

Here is the clip

It's surreal to be continually surprised with the current state of affairs even when everything is hidden in plain sight.

I think it's really odd it has a R RATING

I can't think of any other reason than "you-know-what" meaning the Gov is back on it's bullshit trying to control the amount of people who watch this.

Any movie that doesn't already have a following - if it gets slapped with a R rating, that severely cuts into it's potential revenue at the box office. Saw VI has a following, Halloween had a following ... but most that don't already have a name ... they usually bomb

By giving it an R-Rating, it ALSO prevents it from being shown in Public Schools without a release from parents when it eventually comes out on DVD

You actually raise a good point, especially with the last portion.

I didn't realize the film was rated R

Don't remind me

Fam, I just finished watching Battle in Seattle a little while ago about the non violent protests in Seattle a few years ago that was manipulated into a voracious riot by the corporately controlled media during the World Trade Organization conference. You probably know what I'm talking about.

Extremely well done and well casted flick. If I find some links I will post the flick.

I was glued to the screen the entire time and it gave an eerie picture of what a Police State on U.S. soil would look like.

Very good movie about what went down. Despite the even being HUGE there was a media blackout of it for the most part. When it was discussed after it transpired it was painted as a violent demonstration.

Let me know what you think when you get a chance to see it.

I may have to check this out just to gain a further perspective on the content discussed in the film and review it for myself.

I know Moore has been accused of propaganda but nothing beats doing your own research.

Pathetic.

Re: Damn! Companies profiting off of their own employees death (Micheal Moore new fil

Does your boss want you dead?

article said:
Dead peasants' insurance pays your employer a secret, tax-free windfall when you die. Insurers have sold millions of policies to companies such as Dow Chemical.

Right now, your company could have a life insurance policy on you that you know nothing about. When you die -- perhaps years after you leave your employer -- the tax-free proceeds from this policy wouldnt go to your family. The money would go to the company.

Whats more, the company might use this policy to pay for retirement benefits and other perks not for you or your fellow workers, but for your companys top executives.

Re: Damn! Companies profiting off of their own employees death (Micheal Moore new fil

This is a deep film that everyone really should check out ASAP.

After seeing it last night, I'd say it and Sicko are his best movies. Seeing as there is at most, a tiny handful of curse words, it does seem suspicious that it got an R-Rating. But when it comes to "powers that be" and their associated general fuckery, there are other "powers" besides the govt. that could effect the rating of a film like this. I doubt it had anything to do with Obama's administration, as the film generally praised him for his various efforts.

What is the exact name of yourself as a corporation? I remember it has to do with the way your name appears on contracts right? I forgot.

I can't recall all the details but I know what you're referring to. There was a thread awhile back that covered what you're alluding too (I can't find it).

I don't know why I'm drawing a blank but it has something to do with whether or not your name is lower case or upper case (I think).

Re: Damn! Companies profiting off of their own employees death (Micheal Moore new fil

wow. this is compelling shit. I can find anything in bgol . very informative. sad thing is also that the companies not even giving some of that money to the family members or next of kin of the employee that died. i bet you these low level salaried workers are not offered the same amount or if any life insurance options at their job. I know you are responsible to get one on your own but still..

Re: Damn! Companies profiting off of their own employees death (Micheal Moore new fil

Yeah, that's the one.

Yeah I'm reading up on it now and got the gist of it

All court documents have the person's name in all upper case because under the law of contracts the living, breathing being cannot be tried under corporate law, only a corporate entity can. Laws passed by governments only apply to corporations and not to living, breathing, flesh and blood, sovereign, free men and women spelled in upper and lower case

Every word, or use of lower/upper case, is making a legal statement

Ever notice when you get mail relating to government, law or anything to do with finance (especially taxes) that your name is always spelled in all upper case.

The upper case name is not you but is like a corporate trust that kicked in the moment you were born.
