I'm not impressed. I know friends/family like him well educated successful, great family etc etc. He spoke the truth the militant kats are up in arms as usual. What he speaks about the ills of the old days and then what? The militants will be happy running around selling cheap oils to celebrate.

Some of us dont succeed like others groups because of racial biases and cultural issues. But from working with multiple poor Black folks...im starting to lean more toward cultural issues.
As for Punk Ass Obama, dont feed to much into the words coming out of his mouth. I mean....observed and take action....but dont confuse him for being a hard working Commander and Chief that works for the American people....because thats not him. The connection he had with Black folks back in the days, when he worked in the project buildings in Chicago, rallying for AMBITIOUS struggling Black folks, etc., was just a phaze he was going through. Kinda like the phaze white folks went through when they became hippies and was high yelling about Peace.
Dumb Black folks continue to vote by party, race, off emotions etc.....so thats why they get treated like useless eaters by their elected officials. He's not scared to tell white folks what's up. I've heard him make the same points in other speeches, but ya'll can use Google your damn selves.
But I guess cats won't be happy unless he makes these points in speeches every time he talks or call individual giant corporations out by name - "You, yes you evil white corporation, IBM, are racist and have held blacks down for too long." Sometimes it's appropriate to cast blame, but we've had decades and decades and decades of black leaders do nothing but blame white folks, white corporatations and colonial policies throughout the world for the conditions of anyone not white. All that blaming didn't get shit done. And all the people calling for him to cast more blame, well, they think the only way to be credible on race is to be hated by white folks. If they don't hate you, you must not be doing it right. Bullshit. That might be why they're not president and accomplished nothing. I can guarantee that before he's done, Obama will do more for black folks than Martin, Malcolm, Jesse and All COMBINED.

Speaking as one of those people, we were not convinced through our upbringing that white people are on some level we should aspire to be on.
We were taught NOT to be like the white man while AA are taught to aspire to be like the white man.
We were taught to sacrifice for the greater good because the battle is still going on, AA are taught that the fight is over.
We were taught that slaves fought and died for freedom not some man called Lincoln giving it.
We have African religions to ground us.
We have extended families to support the child rearing process.
In short, we have a separate culture that is NOT American that renforces family that allows us to prosper IN the system without being a part OF the system.

i already know in four or eight years, some of the first stories...and countless threads on BGOL....will ask "did barack obama do enough for black america?" and the answer will, of course, be no. because what will be enough? compared to whites and asians blacks will still be in worse schools, have higher unemployment, higher dropout rates, lower graduation rates, make less, invest less, live in higher crime neighborhoods, have higher teen pregnancies and out-of-wedlock births, more fatherless homes, etc, etc.
it won't matter if any progress was made or if a strong FOUNDATION for future progress was laid, if all of those problems aren't solved by the time barack leaves office it will PROVE he never really cared about black people. and f they are measurably addressed it won't be enough for folks. no-win.

I'm the only that can solve my personal and small domestic "problems".
