I was thinking the same thing. When he unmasked during Civil war it ment alot. I heard about it on my local news. For a long time a superheros secret identity was as important as they skills or powers.
But like many people predicted they turn around and do Brand New Day. BOOM, he has his secret identity back. Then almost out of the blue, He give up his identity to a room full of "team mates".
Not to mention the fact that a few months ago one of his team mates was the the undetectable Skrull Queen.
I did like the Luke, Jessica, Peter interaction.
I feel you, this was my gripe with the spider man movies too. This mofo was taking his mask off too damn much! It was like his costume didn't mean shit.
You will find that is always the case with superhero movies. The general public wants to see Toby MacGuire -not spiderman. So his mask always ends up coming off for half the movie.
Same goes for Batman. Even though we can see some of the actors face, in every Batman move there are scenes where he's supposed to be Batman but he has the mask off.

i just found it odd that they would do this as soon as they did (figured they would wait since its been maybe a year since BND). i still dont see how the venom symbiote dont remember who he is.
I had read somewhere that McGuire had complained about his lack of face time in the Spiderman movies. This may or may not be true, but in each movie, he does seem to be without his mask more and more. (Which is why I'm in favor of a series reboot using unknowns as Peter Parker/Spiderman and Mary Jane.)

FRAKKIN CLAREMONT MAN.. WTFrak....?
I purchase this book because the art is so damn gorgeous. I read the shit and it's like a frakkin HACK writer( claremont is) wrote this bullshit.
We see a psylocke dying again.. Always a British looking one. Then we see Psylocke get her ass kicked by a virtual Slaymaster. Then she comes to Earth to Save captain Britain????? Goes shopping and hangs out with friends and Whips her (wasn't he her brothers archnemesis??) Ass. Kills the dude, like some shit from The One.
Then LEAVES like nothing happened? Goes back and Makes out with the one guy whos almost killed her 2 times.
Claremont im so glad he isnt writing an X-book with her anymore.

On another note.. I feel ya on this man. Superheroes in movies are seen in both ways. then while in costume they take off the mask again? makes no sense to me. Even the average movie goer realizes superheroes shouldnt be doin that dumbness.

I think in the Ultimate line Bendis meant it as a spoof, almost like a running joke.
As for the Avengers thing I don't see it as that deep. True BND was a little while ago but that was everyone knowing and they kind of showed how hard his got from that, but right after Secret Invasion and with another SpiderMan running around I can understand with teammates knowing. I think a lot of time a writer wants to go in a certain direction ( might be hot ) and Marvel not wanting to piss them off lets em go knowing they can take it back right after.
Last but not least, I feel the movie thing is Hollywood still feels that the Actors sell the movie so they want that face time...in time they will learn that the characters sell themselves. Maybe then we won't have to look at Nicolas Cage's awkward acting as ghost rider or Afleckdevil

It was well known that when Joe Quesada became E-I-C at MARVEL, one of his major gripes was Peter Parker being married. He made this well known at various conventions, interviews, etc. So Dude was waiting for the "right" opportunity.
But instead of having Peter and Mary-Jane divorce (Quesada didn't want to address that issue with Spider-Man, mainly due to kids reading the book. Though I think his being Catholic also had more to do with it), Quesada thought the best thing to do was just wipe it from everyone's mind. But Quesada actually ended up screwing at least 20 years of continuity and history. Especially after what happened in "CIVIL WAR".
Quesada felt most fans could care less.
They just want good stories.
It was me who said it. Yeah it's been pushed back til may. Stupid Final Crisis REALLY screwed things up for this mini and for Darkest Night.
