A few of my favorite rappers. You don't hear a bad thing about these guys. Nothing but respect from their peers.
one thing I can say for certain, is that within the rap business(mid 80's, 90's "old school") no one is more liked and respected across the board, than Heavy D. I remember Red Alert telling me the same thing back in 1990, and I came to see and hear it for myself later on.
So, I'm sitting here thinking about all this 50 v. Ross beef ... and all the shit said between and about them by fans and haters
And then it got me thinking -- damn, as fickle and as competitive as rap is, I can only name a handful of rappers that have NEVER had (to my knowledge) haters or a bad thing said about them.
Never a "Oh, that nigga's music sucks" or "Yo, fuck that bitch/nigga" or "That nigga's a fraud" or "He/she ain't representing...." or assorted shit like that ...
- Q-Tip
- Devin Tha Dude
- Heavy D
- Queen Latifah (Remember she came out when there was virtually NO female rappers on the scene)
- MC Lyte
- Doug E Fresh
- Slick Rick
- Biz Markie
- Yo-Yo
New Additions:
- EPMD (until they started going at each other ...Crabs in a barrel)
- Redman
- All of the Beastie Boys
...
And that's all that really comes to mind. Ain't that a fucking shame? Like 9 Rappers. Add to it if you'd like - but that's all I can think of.

Chuck D
Q-Tip got clocked by the Wrecks-N-Effect dudes. Lost partial sight in an eye as a result.
Lyte had a shit load of haters. Remember Antoinette?
Yo-Yo had beef with Shante after an episode on Ricki Lake which included Lyte.
Beastie Boys got ripped by 3rd Bass on their first album.
Run DMC, Salt and Pepa, Queen Latifah, Rakim for starters.
what about Will Smith ?

close thread
What about Busta Rhymes? He's done a song with almost every relevant mainstream rapper I can think of.
Chuck D of Public Enemy. I don't recall anyone hating on him or threatening him. Almost everyone seems to respect Chuck D. He sung it, he lived it.
hmmmmmm.....you might be on to something.....
what rap beef has jeezy been in???
Boot Camp Clik was going at it with Wu-Tang. Ghostface took offense to 50 Cents' How to Rob.
They don't air 95% of the Award categories.
I do remember that video, yea and Q was wearing a mask. I never understood that ... I thought he was on some MF Doom shit.
But Phife said the line...
Why the fuck did Wrecks go after Q-Tip?!!!
Now I like them niggas that much less ... (They raped Pharrell on his royalties for Rump Shaker ... he helped compose and write it before he was known)
Update: Fuck Wrecks N Effect. I'm popping my goddamn Rumpshaker tape because of this nonesense. One nigga says a line, so you go after someone completely unrelated?!
everybody had it with somebody, a lot of times they were dropping subliminals your average fan didn't notice....i bet even fuckin fresh prince had a little battle in his day too.

never had a problem with any rapper
A few years ago I got into a online argument over the importance of Heavy D to hip hop. A lot of people were saying he was wack and shouldn't be mentioned in any form. I don't know if that constitutes but I was suprised by some of the responses.
A lil before my era but didn't Mc Lyte and Antoinette have a beef over stealing lyrics or songs or some shit.
And La La made that "name calling" track off...was that actually directed toward someone or was it just hypothetical, because she went it on that shit.
Yo Lyte and Antoinette used to go hard.. then Antoinette went to college and dropped off the scene.. She was nice with hers too.
