I can not stress how important it is to try to create you own job...Especially for us..

An Arab cat i know who works at one of the 7-11's around the way just bought his own 7-11, he was working at his family owned store for like 6 years, we all used to clown him..because he was always riding a ragedy bike...

Its funny how Foreigners think as oppossed us black americans...

As far as college is concerned I am not so sure how important it is in this day age...
Most of my peers who have a trade or vocational skill are better off..in 2008 (plumbers, barbers, mechanics ect..)

In the long run college may prove to benefit, but corporate jobs are the most dispensible, where as people with trades will always have a hustle to put money in there pocket

guess people have to figure out what benefits them
 
Unfortunately, there are going to be a lot of people going through this experience. When we start talking all of that "I have a college degree" shit, what we fail to remember is that there are millions in this country who also have a degree.

Yes it's nice to say "If you have a degree and another applicant doesn't, you are going to get the job". But the problem is, you aren't competing with a bunch of high school graduates for jobs, you are competing with other college-degree having applicants like yourself. Come to Atlanta and find out just how special your college degree really is in the job market.

People's mentalities about what they get out of their educations better start changing quick. All of that going to school to get a piece of paper so you can get a good job shit just isn't going to cut it these days. You have to focus on actually LEARNING something and developing actual skills and knowledge that will make you stand out.

Besides all of that though, mofos need to realize that the whole "go to school and get a good job" thing is LOADED with competition. Start thinking outside of the box and become entrepreneurial. The reality is that the shit we think is the riskiest thing to do typically isn't, because there's going to be less competition. There's a reason why they say "It's lonely at the top".

Is there any way to pull up statistics on who is hurting more in the economy...niggas w/ degrees or niggas w/o...? I can't believe how silly cats are...having a degree even in the worst case scenario is like having a safety net especially if you are starting out with a new business...I swear niggas have shit backwards...
 
I will be a bit racist and say that 9 times outta 10, blacks will lose the job first over whites, also we'll have a much harder times getting a job over whites as well.

Her first mistake was trying to live the good life like she has a safety net becuase she has a degree, she's black and she should always prepare for the worst.

We should be way more conservative than whites, we don't have it nearly as easy as them.

Ugh it is true for the "Majority" of professions...there are some exceptions for some more jobs tailored towards 'skills' or trades.

But in my Job... nobody is getting hired without damn near 2 degrees...let alone without ANY college degree.

For a job as a teacher, surgeon, or electrical engineer... YOU NEED DEGREES IN THE FIELD TO GET HIRED. PERIOD.

But if you are a graphic artist, or hell a few I.T. jobs than hell I can see somebody with a 15 years of proven experience get hired over somebody fresh out of school.

Sure Don you can pick a "few" exceptions out of the "Rule" but the stats overwhelmingly show that people with college degrees earn more than those without one.


This is coming from a guy with an M.B.A.

Thanks for posting me. I just got out of my coveralls. I know some guys in the Navy who're making some nice change. I used to work with a Nuclear Operator. I went like this :eek: when I found out what he made. Shits stressful though.

Damn, I feel bad for the girl in the clip. I was working full-time and going to school part-time to get my masters degree. At the job, I was working for a manager (white woman) who had NO degree. She didn't have more talent, skills, knowledge or any certifications. Going through this experience, I'm definitely sitting for the CPA exam after I take the review courses so shit like this doesn't ever happen to me again.

i have a feeling in the next few years is going to be student loans...the average student is leaving college $20,000 in debt

our parents didnt have to go thru that...

and the $20,000 doesnt count any credit cards (if any)

this is going to be a huge problem in the next few years....im calling it now:smh:
