Shit the worst part was when you would be over a friends house watching TV dude turns to tv guide and just zoned the fuck out. Have you watching that shit for a half hour.

Oh and I'm 23 this list only applies if you had money growing up. We didn't have a house phone until I was 11, I remember the first chick I called. Her grandma picked up and asked me what the hell I wanted to talk to her baby for. My nervous ass said I had to ask her about homework. Her old ass stayed on the line as I was stuttering trying to make up some about math class. Shit Cable at 13, I remember the day the cable man came. That shit was like every christmas and birthday I ever had rolled up into one day.

i never thought about that,,, before we had the internet, we had the library,,, i remember being in the library all the time as a kid for anything research related, or working on school reports,,, i don't think i've been to library for anything (besides a quit place to study) since the internet came out,,, surprised more librarys haven't closed down by now,,, only thing people couldn't do at the library is look at porn & jack off

I guess so, actually I can't wait to get to your age, then my "I dont give a fuck" attitude wont be looked as being a "rebel without a cause"

Actually some say that "don't give a fuck" attitude in those under 30 is one of the problems.

Actually some say that "don't give a fuck" attitude in those under 30 is one of the problems.

When I say I don't give a fuck, I mean about childish shit and trivial shit and shit that other early to mid 20 year olds around me still care about and place to much priority on.

if i could have had at least one thing when i was in high school....it would be the internet.
but yeah....i feel you man.

He's proper real with what he's saying i remember that sh!t too and i'm from London UK.
They do have it easy but it's not their fault.
In years to come it'll be even easier, trust me.

Fox, Abc, Nbc, Usa, tnt, tbs, use to start playing cartoons from 4AM on saturdays and that was my only goal just to get up early and watch them, i miss them days.

I don't know man. I'm in my 20s, but experienced most of this shit. Hell, I didn't get the internet until about 2 or 3 years ago and had to go to the library to do all my shit, and only had dial up until about a year ago. I definitely remember life pre-internet and pretty much resented the net until a few years ago, but now, cuz of shit like BGOL :D:D:D am hooked.

I remember looking forward to holidays because that's when all the cartoons came on, now they're on everyday. I remember having to watch old ass TV shows from the 40's, 50's, and 60's because pre- reality TV/Judge shows/Jerry Springer/Maury Povich, that's what was played during the day on TV. Now, you have to have a special channel just for the classic "Sanford & Son" and "All in the Family type shows, because "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" and "Deal or No Deal" dominate all day.

Technology's a double edged sword. Our problem is that the technology has evolved quicker than we can put it into it's proper perspective. It's like giving a 12 year old a driver's license. They'll drive the hell out of shit, but won't know how to drive and won't know how to maintain it. That's how we are with things like the internet. That's how internet piracy has gotten out of control.

Technology has given a lot of people the feeling of being invincible(internet hate machine) and has let a lot of people who shouldn't be famous become famous for bullshit. It really has degraded everything, which is why I never really cared for cell phones and the net and things like that.

All I can say is that I'm proud to have lived life before the internet and actually preferred it. I would give up all my access to this abundant amount of porn and music on the net, if as a society we could go back to a more innocent time.

USA Network premiered on September 27, 1977, originally organized as the Madison Square Garden Network (not to be confused with the New York City regional sports network of that name), the channel became one of the first national cable television channels when it chose to use satellite delivery as opposed to microwave relay to cable systems.

On April 9, 1980, The channel changed its name to USA Network after the ownership structure was reorganized under a joint operating agreement by the UA-Columbia Cablevision cable system (now known as Cablevision Systems Corporation ) and MCA Inc. (whose assets are currently owned largely by NBC Universal and Vivendi SA).

TNT as a cable service was launched with a showing of the 1939 classic movie Gone with the Wind (which Ted Turner had acquired the rights to), on October 3, 1988. It was chosen because, it was said, it was Turner's favorite movie - it would also be the first program on sister channel Turner Classic Movies in 1994. Incidentally, the film had been premiered in Atlanta, Turner's hometown and the headquarters of Turner Broadcasting, as well as being the setting for Gone With the Wind.

In 1970, Ted Turner, then head of a successful Atlanta-based outdoor advertising firm, purchased WJRJ-Atlanta, Channel 17, a small, struggling UHF station, and renamed it WTCG, for parent company Turner Communications Group. Through careful programming acquisitions, Turner guided the station to success. In December 1976, WTCG originated the "superstation" concept, transmitting via satellite to cable systems.

In 1979, the company changed its name to Turner Broadcasting System, Inc. (TBS, Inc.) and the call letters of its flagship entertainment channel to WTBS.

I swear to G' ... this is a great thread. I'm almost 29.5 and can relate to EVERYTHING TheBigOne spoke on.

- I wasted many hours at the library riffling through CARD CATALOGUES
- I got bitched at by many a librarian for constantly asking for their help
- I first discovered email in the winter of early 1996 and was AMAZED
- I got an occasional ride to school
- Otherwise my little brother and I walked 2 miles each way
- I walked to soccer practice 2 miles away
- I took 3 buses to get to 6am basketball practice at school (twice weekly) pre-class
- Our family got our first computer in 1997 ... it had 1GB of storage space
- I've never owned a PSII, PSIII, Super Nintento or an XBox
- I had Nintendo (a few years after friends had it already) in the 80s
- I had Sega Genesis for a few years in the early-90s
- I have NEVER in my whole life owned a new vehicle
- I got a 1991 Honda Accord 3rd-hand in 2001
- I got a Toyota Echo 2nd-hand
- I cut my own fucking hair ... fuck a barbershop
- I use coupons everywhere
- And for laughs - my dad is as cheap as they come. We asked him for a low-end digital camera in 2001 @ Christmas ... and he bought us a PINK BARBIE DIGICAM (for kids) and asked us if we could use that and make due with it ... as it was on sale for $20 at London Drugs. We weren't even able to set that bitch up. Fuck Mattel.
