~ Comics New releases ~

I swear right now I wanna cry. I had over 70GB of comics on my external HD and now it's telling me 'disk not repairable by this computer'. Man, I don't know if I have the patience to re-collect and download all the stuff I had if there is no-way to retrieve the data :-( I was just getting ready to start posting Complete Runs of certain comics on here for you guys. Pisses me off. It's like they design these drives to fail for no reason.
Anyway much thanks to all those who helped me put together the a small part of collection since I found this thread.
Big Respect.

(if anyone has any tips on what to do please pm me!)

I have the same problem, I had just moved all my files (pdfs, comics, movies, mp3s, pics, over 120GB) from an old drive to the new pc i built last week. Well on Sunday, the new hard drive started making a clicking sound then - boom - it stopped working. I connected it to snother computer to see if i could access the the files, no luck. I'm screwed. Any assist, fam?

I think WattDogs was referring to Kyle Rayner's stint as Ion (y'kno, before DC decided to turn it into a giant green space whale symbiote entity.lol)

"Kyle first assumes the Ion identity after a prolonged series of events stemming from the death of his girlfriend Alex. First, he unconsciously expels all his feelings of rage from himself, which takes physical form as one of Kyle's childhood nightmares and calls itself Oblivion. Kyle defeats Oblivion in the Circle of Fire storyline, and his powers are boosted as a result. Over time his powers begin to grow even stronger until Kyle realized he is tapping into the Green Lantern energy left in the sun after Hal Jordan died. After a battle over control of the power with the villain Nero, Kyle absorbs all the powers of the Green Lantern Corps, resulting in Kyle taking the name Ion.
Kyle uses his newly expanded abilities to recreate the Guardians of the Universe on the planet Oa, whom he places in the care of Ganthet and orders him to teach them humility, and then recharges the Central Power Battery on Oa. Kyle divests himself of his new abilities soon afterwards when he realizes he is losing touch with the people he was protecting"

Powers and Abilities of Ion: The sum total of all the energies contained by the Guardians of the Universe and the Central Power Battery which granted the possessor nigh-omnipotent control over time, space and reality.

Thanks for the backup. I couldn't log on for the past few nights (stupid server issues).

You can try this,as it worked for me. Unplug your external and wrap it in paper towels (two layers are good)and put it in a 1 gallon ziplock freezer bag. Then put it in the freezer for about 9 - 12 hours. Then take it out and let it get back to room temperature before hooking it back up. A friend of mine taught me this trick and my external worked fine for another 4 weeks. I downloaded everything to a new one immediately, though. Good luck!
