Pocket PC Owners come on in

well i found out the problem problem

after i replaced the touchscreen

i was having problems with it booting up

after much research last night on xda forum i learned how to do a real HARD RESET

the 2 soft keys on top of internet and windowns button preforms a clean reset to default settings...i did it and it went right to the today screen

but my problem was i broke the sim card socket when i explored my unit lookin for answers to the booting problem and that causes a safetly alert to happen and the phone shuts down in 10 seconds...

but i was mad relieved to see that blue factory boot screen

80 bucks for the part when i was one day from buyin a whole new phone...

damn xda developers is the shyt
got my fingers crossed waitin for the part to come in

do you have the correct tools for the job this time?
yea man i can take this damn thing apart wit my eyes close

ace hardware sells them lil ass torx screw drivers for 2 bucks

radio shack has the tiny screw gun with all the lil different types of torx on sell for 9.99

damn shame i wish i knew about the hard reset tho...that was the problem i had a bad program...and need to reset it after i put the new lcd in

sighs

i kno one thing im going to be real picky on what i put on my pda for now on...i do want that diamond theme shyt and the 6.1

when i bought my 8525 off ebay it was already unlocked and had a different version of wm6 on it that i looked almost like the original. when this post started i became interested in what was out there for my phone. xda site provided a lot of help but not from the members. I did a lot of searched and reading before doing anything to my phone....

u think thats y my shyt took a dive like it did after the screen was replaced?

No, CID lock is what the Cell phone carriers have put in place to keep you from flashing (reprogramming your phone) with another carrier's OS and settings. what I believe happened in your case was that the ribbon cables push connectors were not pushed completely in their respective sockets. It is a common issue after replacement of a ppc lcd.

Thats exactly how I learned about all my ppcs's.

You dont drop the file into the directory. It will just sit there. Delete it from where you dropped it. On your pc, with the phone connected, run the exe file, it will install the app to your device. you only drop cab files to the device and run them from the device to install it.

 Ok, got it 2gether now... the shit is working flawlessly... ur the man 4 this 1:dance::dance::dance:

What are you cats with the Sprint Mogul doing for picture mail right now?

The sMMs program I had expired and when I reloaded it does not work. Sprint is actually putting out a legit pic mail update before the end of the year but till then.........

Att PPC users

For the people who have att cell service I have some info you may not know.

*NOTE* this post might be a little long.....

To make a long story as short as possible, I bought an att 8525(HTC TYTN) on June of last year. 8 months later I needed to do a warranty replacement and I went through two of those until I finnally did a one time hardware swap and got my att tilt ...for free:yes:. About a month ago I decided I needed to replace my tilt...nothing was really wrong with it but I dropped it and had some scratches and wanted it replaced before my warranty period ran out so I told them some BS technical issue and had a new one sent.

Now last night my usb charging port decides it want to quit on me and I'm pissed cause my warranty period is over...or so I thought more on that in a sec. So I said hell I'll just put it under the new warranty service they offer and make a claim and pay my $50 deductible(in Nov. is will change to $125) in a month and get a new device. I call att and they said I couldn't do it because it was out of the 30 day sign up period......but here is the kicker and the point of this long ass post ( I made it long to show you how to pimp the system in detail)the guy told me that my phone IS still under warranty because on replacement phones you get an additional 90 days from last day of your original 1yr warranty period...so I have until sept. do get my self a new joint ...for free:yes:

I had to share this because everytime I switched my phone out they explicitly told me that once the 1yr period ends that's it you are stuck with the phone which is bullshit

First I want to say thanks to all the contributers for helping me mod my phone. I just have a few quick questions.
1. What program do I need to keep me from bricking my phone?
2. How do I get past that "this is not a valid ppc app error message" when trying to install an new program?
3. How and, this might sound stupid, but how do I uninstall programs on the phone?

Thanks again for any help you can give me.................

2 - what type of file are you trying to install when you get this message? exe files must be synced to the device thru the pc. meaning, you have to connect your device to your pc and run the exe file. cab files can be downloaded and installed OTA (over the air), meaning, no PC is needed.

3 - start>settings>system>Remove programs.

I was trying to install total commander and got this message. It was a cab file.
