Which City Is More Dangerous Detroit Or St.louis?

I lived in Detroit between 2005 and 2007
withing those 26 months,

My girls Mailibu was stolen, and stripped
she bought a ford Focus and it got stolen
Came back from school one day and my Sebring was gone
I bought a used BMW because it couldnt get stolen but guess what?
I woke up one morning and the car was sitting on the ground, all 4 wheels gone!!
I got robbed twice on Livernois and 6 mile
and on Davison( both on gun point)
Was at a strip club on Joy rd one night, a dude walks into the club, blows the brains up off another dude sitting righ next to me, you think you've seen a man's brains before, come ask me.
My girl's best friend's boyfriend, followed her to the club one day on the E side, and shot the bitch on her thighs, he really was shooting at her pussy..
My cousin got robbed in downtown Detroit, on his birthday
oh... and My girl's cousin was killed in front of the 5th precint, right in fron of the damn police station..

I got my degrees, bought a house in the burbs and moved out..

Yea folks, its that bad. All the chics down here got 2-3 babies, in every college class I was in, it was always one or 2 black males in the class, and most times, it was Africans.

The drug dealers here, dont even make money, cause everyone is too broke to buy shit.. Jails are packed to capacity, I was riding with my lil cousin on the east side yesterday, and he was showing me some 14 yrs olds on the street with 3 dogs, claiming to be some Rang gang bangers from Finney High school.
I know detroit like the back of my hand.. truth is, the place is bad.
If you aint from Detroit, then pls you have no business being there.
I could rant and rant, but this is the real picture.
Fuck Collin Powell

Wow!! Quite the impressive resume you got there. How did you attract so much action in your space?

I have lived in Detroit all my life. In my younger days I robbed a few guys, shot or shot at a few guys, I was never into stealing cars. With that said, I have personally never been robbed ( although, about 15 years ago sum dudes did try to carjack me but i wasnt giving up my shit to a bunch of clowns who didnt even have a gun), never been the victiom of a break in or had my car stolen...(knock on wood)..There are some pretty bad areas in the city but you just have to be on point at all times. Thats not to say you will never be a victim but you can reduce the chances of it happening.

Born and raised in Flint,MI (northside) which is basically a smaller Detroit. #3 most dangerous city in 2007. Currently living in Ypsilanti, MI after finishing college. Got my degree and moved. A lotta cats I came up with are dead or doing football numbers in the pen. Not bragging at all, but it's a feat within itself not to become a statistic and make it out.

Edit: been to both places and it's Detroit HANDS DOWN!

Yeeeeaaaahhhhhh.... It's fucked up the thread that mentions my city is titled "Which is more dangerous". But, it's life (or, should I say death for this instance). Yeah, I get worried, about my family's safety, about me and my love for being out here "in the mix". But for some reason, a lot of us don't wanna leave. It's like, a gleam of hope. This city CAN be beautiful, CAN be live. We have the resources, the spirit. Real talk. But, in the meantime, I keep workin, Educatin myself, and practicing my quickdraw technique in the mirror @home. Feel much better with my CPL's ;-)

Detroit is on another level, they finding buried bodies and shit right now around the corner from the house i lived in for five years. Fuck, enjoy the bitches though because they off the chain...

P1010017.jpg

Women from the, " The city " do have good pussy. Because they are chemically imbalanced as FUCK. I would never give a Detroit woman anything but a throw away number.

As far as MI goes, right now, SHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTT . . . it's safer in STL. Dealing with skin like your own. The violence in MI with these stupid kids is out of control, and they don't miss.

In STL, it's just the unincorporated three million bitch ass municipalities in the county with 28 Mark Furmen's per 4 square blocks that fucks you up. Seriously.

Don't get captured.

They will lose you in the system. FUCK that.

Coming from a 3rd World country and growing up in Detroit, I always forget how lucky I am. I thought my neighborhood was decent(in comparison to the rest of Detroit) 6mile & Evergreen , right outside of Rosedale Park, but when I visited this pass Christmas my neighbor was moving out. After 17 years he said he couldnt take it anymore (he's a cop in Warren). He told me they stole his Harley Davidson(had an alarm on it) and he was telling me the night before I came back ,they had a shoot out right on our corner. Even though I watched my boy get shot in front of me at the 04 fireworks, I still was like thats just random shit, but every year it gets closer to home.

I don't know why St. Louis keep getting mentioned in this. Its no worse than any other city. North side gets rough at times but I don't fuck with the East side unless I'm going to the slip or bottoms up.

born and raised in St. Louis Missouri. Infamous North Side Kingshighway and
thekla... Mom divorce dad got a good job and moved us to North County... North County was all white... until all the people in the city move to the County and everyone moved to West County(live out there for a while too). I remember all the homies were coming to my school in the county becuause of the DeSeg program.

North Side/Waluant Park/South Side project/Kinloch/Castle Point/West Side Delmar are some of the areas you did not want to start drama...I remember riding thru Ofallon park and seen my homeboy getting shot up...

I remember everyone chilling on the riverfront and some got lit up down there... Also I remember these girls banging on the White Castle parking lot on Broadway and the police call an all cars out for that shit...

St. Louis... the home of Red Hot ripples, chinaman, Imo's pizza and Vess soda... shit i'm going home this weekend.

I aint from St. Louis or Detroit but I worked with this crazy ass white dude. I went to his house for bonfire party (whitefolks do this shit, big ass fire and they just sit around it and get drunk) I went for the free beer. I went to his crib, and this motherfucker live in the hood in Greensboro. I mean the grimey ass hood, crack heads, prostitutes gangs all that shit. I asked him why he was leaving there. He says its cheap ass shit, then I asked arent you afraid being the only white dude around here?
He then looks at me and say's
dude this aint shit to me
"I'm From DETROIT"

Not to change the subject but is Memphis really that bad?

Memphis leads U.S. in violent crime
But police director says city showing 7% decline in 2007:rolleyes:

The Memphis metropolitan area, after coming in second last year, tops this year's ranking of metro areas by the rate of violent crime -- homicide, rape, aggravated assault and robbery.

In 2006, according to crime numbers released by the FBI, the eight-county Memphis metropolitan area recorded 1,262.7 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, the highest rate in the nation.

Last year, the Florence, S.C., metropolitan statistical area had the highest violent crime rate in the country. Memphis came in second with 1,197 violent crimes per 100,000 residents. And that was up from 1,132 in 2004.

The Memphis metro area includes Crittenden County in Arkansas, DeSoto, Marshall, Tate and Tunica counties in Mississippi, and Fayette, Shelby, Tipton counties in Tennessee.

But the people are concentrated in Memphis and Shelby County. And so far in 2007, violent crimes inside the Memphis city limits have dropped by about 7 percent, according to Memphis Police Director Larry Godwin.

Overall, the serious crimes that are reported to the FBI -- which includes both crimes against persons and property crimes -- are down this year by just over 6 percent.

Memphis-Shelby Crime Commission head Michael Heidingsfield wasn't surprised by the most recent numbers.

In fact, the poor numbers for 2005 were part of the impetus for Project Safe Community, an effort to bring all the local law enforcement and other sectors of the community together in a comprehensive crime reduction plan.

When looking at what's happening in Memphis, it's important to consider what other factors set the area apart from places with lower rates of crime, he said.

"Memphis doesn't enjoy the typical suburban affluence that other areas do, and that could set us aside," Heidingsfield explained.

"As there is re-gentrification in the inner cities, you see a change in crime rates," he said.

New York is probably the best example, where they have seen several decades of rebuilding. Violent crime, and street crime generally, are typically displaced by an influx of wealth.

Also, the numbers released by the FBI reflect only what has been reported to them by local communities.

Not all communities report the same way, despite the conversion in 2000/2001 to NIBRS (National Incident-Based Reporting System), an attempt to standardize crime reporting nationwide.

Other nearby cities didn't fare well either on the FBI numbers this year: the Little Rock metro area registered 905.5 violent crimes per 100,000; Nashville-Davidson MSA had 857.7.

Jackson, Miss., was well down the list with 456 violent crimes per 100,000.

Here you go posting some bullshit of a statistic. If you are not from Memphis or atleast 25 years of age don't speak on my city.

Just got back from the titty bar, about to goto bed, but had to respond real fast. and had to respond to this post. I've been all over the country and there ain't no place as fucked up as Detroit. I was born and raised there and I'll always keep a residence there. The property is cheap as hell, the hoes are plentiful, and if you got a little bit of money, you can live like a king in Detroit. it's like the wild-wild west as long as you ain't a sucka or simp, nobody will fuck with you. Only the strong survive in Detroit. and yeah, that's me in the picture below, WHAT?

You just summed up the STL experiance right there.
What fucked up ST. Louis was the influx of L.A. gangs in the 80's.
I keep telling these suburban dudes trying to be Lil Wayne, they don't know what gangsta is.
STL WAS as dangerzone for about 8 years.
The gang shit was heavy when i was growing up. If you wasn't affiliated you stayed in the house.
Dudes getting jumped robbed on a daily basis for Starter jackets and pro model caps
But now it's just pockets of crime. You can have a street with $200,000 houses on one block and 2 blocks away, one of the worst dope sets in the city.

But those crime statistics are bullshit because they only count city limits not the surrounding counties. if they did We would be like no. 28 or something.

All ya'll STL heads need to start reppin' more on the board!

I live in North County (Florissant/Ferguson). It ain't bad at all here. And as long you're not lost and traveling at night, the Eastside is cool.

detroit is full of unorganized losers with guns and as long as stl produces niggas like nelly and chingy they'll receive no respect.

 First it's Willie Herenton, and now Larry Godwin is posting on BGOL, trying to downplay how bad the city really is.

Just admit it man, as far as crime goes, Memphis is the worst or the worst. :smh:

How in the hell am I trying to down play the city I live in. Like I said before If you don't stay in Memphis don't speak on how it is here. HAVE YOU EVER CAME TO MEMPHIS? If not please shut up. It kills me how a nigga watches tv and runs with it. I guess tv is a powerful thing.

I lived in East Saint, and lived in North County in Saint Louis. I was born on the East side. I've also been to Detroit and seen the living situation there, as well.

East Saint Louis is dead. There are very little people even living there. It can be bulldozed and made into a giant Walmart and people would barely bat an eye.

North Saint Louis city is the worst in STL. North County can be pretty bad, as well. But there are some streets in the northside city that you just don't go down at night.

Detroit, though, is the worst in the country. It's worst than STL. And the reason why is because it is only recently (past 5 years or so) when even the "essential" manufacturing jobs in the area went away. And the housing bubble broke so much that you can buy a house for a little bit of nothing. If I thought that the local Detroit economy would turn around, it would be a good thing to buy up some of those houses.

But Detroit's economy is still heavily ladened in manufacturing. Similar to St. Louis, whose "good" jobs at McDonnell-Douglas, TWA, IBM, and others went bye-bye in the 80s, Detroit's job force have to totally be retooled away from the manufacturing sector. And it's happening. But not for black people.

This expected resurgence in Detroit's job market will disenfranchise black workers. And it's not just the sagging economy that increases crime, but the polarization of one economic segment from another that creates an environment of perceptional injustice, which brings creedence to street crime.

Country boys from lil atlanta aka memphis has nothing on Detroit Trust me. My city is not normal.

Says the man claiming to be from Brentwoood, TN. Which is fitting, because you have to be from the rich suburbs to "big up" any crime infested town.

Single city, not metro area. Dont get Memphis confused with things that happen in West Memphis Arkansas, Desoto and Tunica Mississippi. As in a city crime is down and has always been down. Besides the thread said Detroit or St. Louis.

Country boys from lil atlanta aka memphis has nothing on Detroit Trust me. My city is not normal.

Shut yo dumb ass up.:hmm::hmm::hmm: Harvard or Howard ass nigga.
