If you are a fan of DC Comics as I am, you know DC been getting their asses handing to them in the box office by Marvel. It's not that DC don't have characters that would work well, it's just that DC and Warner Bros. are too damn suck in their ways.

DC seems dedicated to a J.L.A. movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Justice_League#Live-action

and a Wonder Woman movie: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wonder_Woman#Individual_film

Either one seems that damn likely to me.

Batman and Superman are both tied up in individual projects and a J.L.A. movie with Batman and Superman ....:lol::lol::lol:

Wonder Woman is a great enough character but her rogue gallery is less than crap, who is she going to fight against?

Between the big budget nature of Superhero movies and C.G.I. capabilities we have today, I think the obvious choices should be

4013318-cf2.jpg

1. Green Lantern

PLOT: The origin story of silver age Hal Jordan. Hal Jordan witnesses Abin Sur crash land on Earth. Abin tells him he is running from Sinestro and gives Hal the ring. Hal learns how to use the ring and eventually fights off Sinestro.

Possible Franchise: After the first movie based solely on Earth, possible sequels can expand into the world of the Guardians, the Corp, and the other Lanterns.

2. The Flash

PLOT: Skip by the origin part and start in the middle of the story. The origin parts can be converted into flashbacks that fill in the gaps of the beginning of the story while Wally fights against the Mirror Master.
Possible Franchise: GORILLA GRODD !!!!

3. Superman (A GOOD SUPERMAN MOVIE)

PLOT:  FUCK LEX LUTHOR,:angry: FUCK KRYPTONITE,:angry::angry: NO MORE FUCKING GREEN LITTLE ROCKS, FUCK THE CHRISTOPHER REEVES FRANCHISE, TIME TO START FRESH

PLOT: There are some many stories and villains in the world of Superman for DC fans to still be suffering through two hours of little green rocks. Darkseid, Doomsday, Metallo, Bizarro anything but Lex Luthor and Kryptonite.

Green Lantern has the potential for a franchise
Wonder Woman can be done, just try and remember Xena
Aquaman they will fuck it up but make Aquaman anti-hero/villian like Riddick and have him go to war with humans and make us question just how much of a ''bad'' guy he is when it is US that are fucking with this guys shits i dunno some bullshit like that :D

In other words, make him the Sub Mariner. :D

Superman needs a complete retool. That last gay assed movie they made sucked and, IMO, killed the fucking franchise in one shot.

Green Lantern would be good as long as they don't let Jack Black or Common do it. :hmm:

DC needs to go back to the Vertigo line for ideas. They need another Constantine but it needs to be as dark and British, as the comic. The Keanu Reeves version was OK but the setting was too bright and American.

The Sandman would be an insane movie, but they would have to do it right. The whole Neil Gaiman Dreaming universe has so much potential that hasn't been tapped yet that if it were done right it could lead to unlimited sequels.

The Trenchcoat Brigade would be good if they, again, made it dark and didn't run from some of the more complicated ideas in it.

I am also sick of the Joker as well. If they going to keep doing Batman movies then we need to see Ras Al Ghul, Bane, Man-Bat etc.

:hmm: @ that little sub-mariner remark

The vertigo thing isn't a bad idea. V for Vendetta and Constantine was both good movies and the sandman would be ....

well as Max B would say, "extra wavy":lol::lol::lol:

As long as they don't try to dumb down the plot for the sake of mainstream audiences, kinda how they did with Constantine.

if only george miller would make the JLA movie CG animated than this what is sure to be a train wreck of a live action film..

speaking of Batman,The Batman cartoon is history..last weekend's episode was the last one

^^^^ Yeah I know. And that Legion cartoon is hit and miss, so much for DC cartoons.

On the Marvel side of things:
that new Spiderman cartoon is not wavy, not wavy at all.
Cheap production values and character models.

If they was serious they would make a good animated movies for the fans....

KINGDOM COME

Good idea but, Nah.
It's gonna be hard to translate Alex Ross Art into Animation.

My Pic's are
1. Green Lantern
2. Wonder Woman
3. Captain Marvel (Shazam!)
4. Teen Titans (I think they could pull this off)

I think a 'real' teen titans movie would be the shit, but DC has made it clear for years now that they will constantly market the titans franchise to children.

A teen titans PG movie would be more unbearable than another Superman vs Kryptonite movie.

You just know DC would fuck that one up.

DC should make a anti hero movie about the life of Black Adam

bg550.jpg

Or they should start fresh with a modern character like Booster Gold and have crazy ass special effects

supes.jpg

They are better off just stealing ideas from marvel and make some new superhero

I would like a good Superman movie,too.

My sister's more a DC fan than I am and she suggested a movie based on Checkmate with Max Lord. She told me it would be in the vein of the Bourne movies.

Marvel might have been beating DC in the box office but how many people really enjoyed the cheesy ass Spiderman movies? based of Ultimate Spiderman (which I hate)

X-Men let me the fuck down, just slow as hell, and they had Wolverine getting his arse kicked in every scene

The Punisher was really good

Daredevil totally sucked
Elektra was so fucking stupid

At least DC movies stick to the comics

I think this Aquaman idea is the best idea, but more importantly, most people not into comics think DC is losing. That is incorrect. The Matrix (was going to be a comic first but then the Wachowskis decided on the film first),V for Vendetta, Road To Perdition, Constantine, Swamp Thing, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, A History of Violence, The Fountain, Stardust,(upcoming) The Spirit, Watchmen, Supermax (A Green Arrow spin-off sort of), etc., etc. Are all DC Comics films. I think their success rate isn't as bad as some people make it out to be because everyone expects every movie to be about costumed heros. Superman Returns sucked because Bryan Singer is gay. I'm not trying to throw an insult his way, he actually admitted he is homosexual and now if you go back and watch that movie knowing the director was gay, it will become crystal clear why the movie flopped! He did good with the X-Men because he could relate to the prejudice theme in the film. The Batman franchise is strong right now. Flash would do wonders and make tons of money if done right, meaning the Barry Allen Flash and not the Wally West jokey-jokey-ha-ha Flash.

I think DC has a better realistic approach to their films and they need to use that advantage because that's what makes people fans of their books as opposed to the "SUPER POWERFUL, PERFECTLY MORAL" heroes of Marvel. Plus, besides a handful of Dc heroes, most people not into comics would readily identify more Marvel heroes than DC on average. So this under the radar strategy has it's advantages.

Use the characters to make good films that most people won't even know is a comic book, like Hellboy, Sin City, Wanted, 300, AVP films, Bulletproof Monk, Conan, The Crow, From Hell, Judge Dredd, The Mask, Timecop, Virus, I Am Legend, 30 Days of Night, etc., etc.

if DC was smart they would market there not as well known characters.

perfect icons for a dc movie

sandman
adam strange
metal men (probably the best one to use)
blackhawks
challengers of the unknown
suicide sqad (another that would be a top contender)

Most of the DC major characters are too cartoony with bright Lego color schemes that don't translate well to movies!
Why do you think up to now Marvel has stayed away from charecters like Captain America and Thor?
Green Lantern should be able to make the transaction to the big screen, but characters like Wonder Woman and Shazam would need a major overhaul!
Another problem DC has is most of their classic villans are way weaker than their counterpart heroes!
So either they have to go with newer villains, who most of the movie audience would not identify with, stick with the silly Jokers, Penguins, Lex Luthor's, who don't have any other power, other than crazy, or have them fight space aliens and robots, "yawn!"

which is why i stress the lesser known individuals...most of them are on equal turf or at a disadvantage with their villains...

Most viable ones I can see like those who've said it above are Flash, and the Green Lantern, that birds of Prey on the WB a few years back could have made a decent movie..

I agree that those types of movies would be better, but in the long run they may never reach that box office smash level, of the Marvel blockbusters, due to the average movie goer lack of identity with those characters.
This is what Hellboy suffered from.

I think DC may go the other direction and gear superhero movies towards children.
They may do a CGI high profile movie, much like the Teen Age Mutant Turtles movie!
Perhaps they could pair up with Pixar Animation Stuidos to help with the project.
That way they could stay true to their roots, and wouldn't be handcuffed to trying to translate their heroes to to the real world.
Lets face it even in the comics, realism was never DC's cup of tea, they always had the exaggerated characters with the square chin and long skinny legs, while Marvel tried to keep their characters truer to life.
So trying to make real life movies, DC would always be at a distinct disadvantage!

I completely disagree. They have more "real life" stories not superhero related perse that would do wonders as a film. example: V For Vendetta and some of the other movies I've listed.

Trust me they are gonna tone down both costumes, if you noticed they both already got a overhaul in the the comics, my guess is to get them more movie friendly.

That's not new though. Blade, Batman and X-Men all got makeovers for their movies.

Superman has a bastard son in the comics?

Oddly enough, Yes.

Name is Christopher Kent or Chris Kent. Something along those lines.

I see someone mentioned Sin City which I don't thinks receives enough credit. That movie was sick for both true comic fans and regular movie-goers.

Can't wait for the sequel  .... that was supposed to be out like last summer

yet hellboy has a sequel.

As does Punisher. There's room for mid-level box office successes like Blade and Hellboy provided that they are fairly well-received and do good dvd business. Daredevil did better box office than Punisher and Blade yet was so roundly trashed that it's done as a franchise.
