If you saw the highlights of the Knicks-Cavaliers game last night, you probably saw Anthony Erskine, the 17-year-old fan who ran out on the court to talk to LeBron James.
“I have liked LeBron James since 2002 and I have always wanted to meet him,” said Erskine who spoke to BET.com Thursday morning. “It was the first time I saw him in person and I didn’t think I would ever have a chance to meet him.”
Not only did Anthony get the chance to meet him, he even got to share a few words with King James.
“I said yo LeBron, what’s up? I just wanted to meet you, I love the way you play,” said Erskine.
The 6-foot-8, 250 pound James, clearly not worried about being attacked, told Anthony “Oh alright, that’s cool.”
The next thing Anthony knew, security grabbed him and escorted him to the back.
The NYPD was called and he was arrested and spent three hours in jail before his sister bailed him out.”
I told a few friends that I was going to meet LeBron, everyone thought I was just saying that.”
“It was a great feeling. You get a fan to come down there to express the way he feels about you … told me I was his favorite player, that never happens,” said James. “I respect him. I respect his pride and for him to come out there and tell me something like that face to face. It’s like the (most) unbelievable thing that ever happened to me.”
If Anthony had the opportunity to do it again, would he?
“Honestly, I would. He’s my favorite player.”
