i'm currently enlisting the help of the fam n BGOL. how do i get rid of this bat i found in my basement? today i went to my new house to finish up on some painting and stuff. i went to the store to get more paint and came back and there was a huge ass bat flying around in my basement. i calmly walked out because i didnt want to spook my wife but dam i was shook. this bat seemed to have a wing span of at least a foot, no lie. maybe it was the shadow of its wings against the wall but dam it seemed big.

i called my new neighbor and asked him what to do and he said to get a broom and kick its ass.:rolleyes:i wish that shit was that easy. i called my pops and he said to come get his fishing net and catch it, but i dont know about that either. that bat got me shook and i aint scared to admit it. i'm leaning more on the lines of calling a critter removal service but that can be costly. any suggestions?

As long as it's not a vampire bat...and it's probably not...more than likely it's gonna be more scared of you than you are of it. I concur with the broom statement...kick it's ass!

:lol::lol:

Ya mad??????????????

Anyway dont get no cujo rabies from that shit.

Found this on the web:

Healthy bats are very mobile and you probably aren't going to be able to catch them. The best way to get rid of them is to determine where they are getting in and out. You can usually figure this out by the guano on or below the entrance. Wait until they leave to feed, then nail or staple a screen or fine hardware cloth over the opening(s). Do not use netting -- they can get entangled in it -- and they are very good at getting around any fabric. You will be rid of most of them after the first night. If you have some stragglers, they will get very hungry very quickly. Take down the hardware cloth the following evening, let them out too, then put it back up. If the rest of your residence or outbuilding is bat-tight, that should take care of it.

:lol: man this bat thing is for the birds. bat removal from what i can find online is not free and is not cheap and to top it off the dam bats are protected.:hmm:

thats right, a bat colony with young are protected by federal and state law.:smh: my taxes dont count for shit. how does a fucking bat have more rights than a home owner?

i have to go back to the house tomorrow to stay on schedual so im going to have to have to man up and go whip this bats ass and pray its people dont report me t the police. :rolleyes:

anyone else have any unwanted guests in there home of the natural wildlife kind?

One of you get a broom, the other a sheet. Swat at the bat to make it fly. When it fly's near you toss the sheet over the bat. My girl had one in here crib, that's how we got it out

go to walmart and get a 30 dollar pellet gun.

:yes::yes:

For real.... It's me or that fuckin' bat. I ain't going nowhere.

On the serious side I had two of them muthafuckas get caught in my A/C system a couple of summers ago. My dog woke me up in the middle of the night going ape shit and running up and down the stairs. I had to go the basement and cut a hole in the duct and take them muthfuckas out by hand. Since I knew they could possibly have rabies I wore my welding gloves. I was little shook myself but like I said it's me or them bats.

:lol: i have read some wild replies so far but it seems to still boil down to me or him. i got my money on me. my other concern is how he got there and will he be back? it seems that they return to there safe haven every year to roost and such so im going to have to keep my eyes peeled. dam i hate bats.:angry:

:lol:

I feel you bruh, I had a bat in my bedroom last summer and I was never that shook in my life!!.

The pest control ppl wanted $200 ...(f*ck that).

I took about 5 shots of Jack and beat to death with a broom, which was the easy part, the hard part was pickin' it up afterwards ..That took another 5 shots of Jack!.

The pest control guy did tell me tho to make sure that if you have hair to put a hat on or tie it down b/c they WILL fly in your hair and get tangled up in it, and if it bits or scratches you you GOTTA catch and keep it b/c it'll need to be tested for rabbies.

Good Luck.

So they have been there before?
The bats that I pulled out of my A/C system were like babies (about the size of a nextel flip phone) and probably got in there by accident. I went and checked my attic I didn't see evidence of them hanging out.

But I can understand if you don't want to fuck with it. I don't know how much they charge but, one option may be to hire one of those pest removal companies.

also the bat won't do anything to you unless you have locs or long hair. then it can stick in your hair the wings all sticky. they really wont trouble you though. you can kill it with the tennis raquet. hit it good.
