I remember when Nickelodeon and MTV used to share a channel and there was no such thing as "Nick at Nite" lieterally because it would go off the air in the evenings. I remember "The Tomorrow People" on Nick for a few seasons but I abandoned that for Voltron and Transformers when WOR Channel 9 in NJ started showing cartoons until 6pm. "You can't do that on television" was my thing too. I think the running joke was Christine stayed on the show forever and couldn't get off. I used to love this show until I discovered Benny Hill and became corrupted... now I'm on a porn board at 11pm. "Do you know what your child is doing?"

While DM and their boss, Colonel K, who's on the videophone, fret over what to do about the missing city, Penfold asks if they have a "spare". He is told "shush" by both his superiors. I just cant imagine growing up today. They have video games, but not like when we were kids. I played video games, sports and with action figures until I was like 12. Asking that one kid to write down the code to get to that secret dungeon in Zelda, droppin three on double dribble, finally beating the Raider on the first Tecmobowl. Watchin the Mario brothers and Zelda cartoon, Ninjaturtles, Gijoe, Silverhawks, Thundercats, Transformers, Voltron, Heman. Anybody remember Heathcliff, the cat whoopin up on the dogs in the neighborhood. I wish I could go back and do that shit again. I had a great fuckin childhood.

Being 40 now I remember all them shows and then some!

I look at what my daughter has to watch on Nick and Disney and I have come to realize that they want our kids to grow up FAST! I mean they have more programs dedicated to teens having crushes and dating and acting stupid than they have on being something when you grow up or teaching you something about the world around you.

I've basically BANNED her from watching BET or MTV or VH1 without me present because I just don't want those images going into her brain without context. Nick and Disney are starting to concern me as well, but at least they are tame in comparison to afore mentioned stations.
