Man Sentenced To Life For Killing Clerk Over Taco
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. -- A man was sentenced to life in prison without parole on Tuesday for killing a 7-Eleven clerk following an argument over the price of a $1.16 taco.
Kenyatta Davis, 36, of Shelby Township, made no statements at the sentencing in Macomb County Circuit Court, defense attorney Mark Haddad said.
A jury convicted Davis last month of first-degree murder in the Aug. 24, 2006 shooting death of Wajed Ali Baig.
Davis went to his vehicle after arguing with Baig in the suburban Detroit convenience store. He returned with a gun and shot the 47-year-old father of three, authorities said.
He fled the state after the slaying and was arrested eight days later at a home in Racine, Wis.
Davis indicated Tuesday that he may appeal his conviction, Haddad said.
I bet he is a product of Detroit
